Exciting stuff!

It's spring break and we have a few fun things planned this week... Friends are coming over today, Austin has a friend coming over tomorrow and I'm taking the kids to go and visit my mom on Thursday.

And, Friday evening and Saturday, I'll be busy cropping with two online crops: both CMK and MSS are hosting online crops this weekend which should be lots of fun!

And something that I'm quite excited about is... that I wrote a scrapbooking article and Scrapbooks & Cards Today published it on their website! You can check it out here.

I've been busy scrapping with some kits lately, and should be able to post some things soon (hint: check back tomorrow! LOL!)

But for today, I'll share the card I made this morning:

And if you'd like to read a tutorial about printing on journaling cards, I posted one today on the MSS blog: Journaling tip #2.

Thanks for stopping by and for your kind comments!

It's Friday...

2. Sage & I got to go and play math games this morning in Austin's class--(AND see him do well with his multiplication/division facts and he's also learning to tell time!)
3. My 4H photography students will be coming to my house after school for a lesson.
4. I get to scrapbook this afternoon.
5. Another Scrappy Formula is posted at CMK. You can check it out here.

A couple of layouts to share...

Happ Monday to you!

Today is my day to post an Design Team Inspiration challenge at Create my Keepsake. I created this layout with the CMK March kit:

In my journaling, I say how I am anything but a Fashionista. Seemed like a fun way to use the Graphic 45 patterned paper. And my inspiration challenge can be found here: Monday Muse 3.23.09.

I also realized today that I made this layout for a game of Scraplift Tag at Just Cre8 and hadn't shared it yet. I lifted one of Susan C.'s layouts and used a lot of product from the MSS March kit.

You probably can't read the journaling, but it says how it's not Sage who's not ready for Kindergarten (because she is more than ready!) but it's me. I'm not ready for her to go.

Thanks for looking!

A list of good things

1. It's Friday!
2. The kids didn't have school today, just parent-teacher conferences this morning, which went fairly well.
3. Spring is finally here!! (Okay, they're forcasting another snow storm, but a girl can dream. ;) )
4. We don't have much planned for the weekend, so it should be fairly relaxing.
5. A new inspiration piece has been posted at The Inspired Scrapper.
6. My Mom and Auntie Roberta came for a visit on Wednesday afternoon.
7. Two of my layouts were requested for publication this week by Scrapbook Trends for their August 2009 issue.
8. Cameron was gone for night last night for work but is on his way home as I type.
9. Our church is having a "Guess who's coming to dinner?" event on Sunday. We signed up to host and were told to expect a family with four children. (There aren't too many of those in our church, so we suspect we might know who's coming!)
10. I got some scrapping done!

I created this layout for a challenge at Scrap for a Cure to create a two-page layout. Something I used to do a lot, but now rarely do. I was fairly pleased with how it turned out.

And I created this layout this afternoon using today's Scrappy Formula at CMK.

I also doubled up the challenge, by using pop dots on my layout, a challenge that Marcy posted on the MSS blog today.

I like the way it turned out-- I think I'll be using pop dots again in the near future!

Happy Friday to you!

"Spring is coming!"

Today is the last day of winter!! Woohoo!!!

That's not to say that tomorrow we suddenly won't have to bundle up in our winter jackets to go out. And we won't be putting away our mittens and tuques just yet. But there are spots of grass on our lawn where the snow has melted and it's enough for Sage to point to the grass and announce:

"Spring is coming, Mom!"

Yes. It. Is.

:)

And so, to welcome in the arrival of a wonderful season (wonderful because it isn't winter), Sage and I did some crafting this morning and I made this:

I saw something very similar on Ali Edward's blog like two years ago. I loved it so much I went out at bought the same Martha Stewart butterfly punch that Ali used. Again, two years ago. And I finally made it today. Oh well, better late than never, right?

And for a challenge at My Scrap Shoppe to create a layout using a premade embellishment as my title. When I saw this diecut title by My Mind's Eye at the Shoppe, I knew I had to buy it and use it on a layout about Jonah:

Enjoy your last day of winter!! ;)

Wednesday

Just a short post for me today. I've got a friend coming over for lunch and then my mom and my aunt are coming for a visit this afternoon. So I've got a house to clean!!

It's my day to post on the CMK blog.

Here's a sneak of my post there:

Well, I'm off to clean. ;)

Have a great day!

St. Patty's Day...

among other things!

Well, I dressed in green today, but totally forgot that it was St. Patrick's Day when I did. I just love green. ;)

I took my friend, Darlene, out for lunch today because it's her birthday. And because her birthday is on St. Patty's Day, this is the card I made her (I was inspired by one of Danielle Flander's cards that she made for this month's CMK card kit.

On the inside, I wrote how blessed I am to have her for a friend.

And in other news, look who's coming to tae kwon do with Austin and me now:

Jonah and Sage signed up last week and are really enjoying it! (And they are just too cute in their uniforms... ;) )

Thanks for stopping by!

A weekend recap...

On Saturday, I scrapbooked a little, getting this layout done for the March DT challenge at MSS: You. I was at a bit of a loss as to what topic to cover about myself. I have done quite a bit of layouts in my BOM, and I wanted something fairly original. I found the perfect topic when I stopped by One Little Word and saw their word for this week: real.

So, with this as my inspiration, as well as the CMK Friday Formula, I created this layout:

I wanted to scrapbook on Saturday, but I got caught up in Camy Tang's Sushi Series, book 3, so I spent a good part of the afternoon reading. Because it was gorgeous outside (yes, really!!), I took the boys for a long walk in the afternoon. I felt the sun on my face and it felt warm! I haven't felt that in such a long, long time...

Saturday evening, Cameron was doing the sound for a wedding reception, so the kids watched some movies that we picked up on our walk and I finished reading my novel.

On Sunday, we went to church and R.O.X., which went well. Our church is starting to display more artistic creations lately, which is cool. The worship team also sang a few new songs, which I found inspiring, especially in thinking about the canvases I want to create.

After lunch, I made this:

In the evening, Austin performed Amazing Grace in the Morden Festival of the Arts for their sacred evening. He did very well!

How was your weekend?

Friday, March 13, 2009

It's Friday!!

Which means....

1. The boys are back in school (Austin wasn't feeling well yesterday, but is better today) so Sage & I have the house to ourselves.

2. A new challenge is posted at The Inspired Scrapper.

3. I posted a Leave Your Legacy Challenge at Just Cre8: scrap your favourite (or least favourite) smell. Here is the layout I made for the challenge, using the Just Cre8 March kit:

How fun to scrapbook a baby picture again! :)

4. I got my laundry chores done, so once I finish my Sunday School stuff for next weekend, I can scrapbook this afternoon.

5. I'm going to go and see Confessions of a Shopaholic with a friend tonight!

6. It's almost the weekend!

What does your Friday mean for you?

The days...

just seem to keep passing by at an alarming rate. It's been very hard lately to get everything done. So, I apologize for neglecting my blog lately. It's just the easiest thing to drop. ;)

Something new....

Look who got glasses!

Our optometrist told us in fall that Austin was borderline for needing them, but if we noticed him squinting or having trouble seeing, then to order them in. We started noticing this last month, so I took him in and we picked these out. We picked them up on Tuesday. Doesn't he look handsome?

We've been busy with the Morden Festival of the Arts, which started this week. Both Austin and Jonah presented two poems, one in French and one in English. They both did quite well.

Jonah's poems were April Fool by Inez George Grindley and Le chien de traineau.

Austin presented The Man in the Iron Pail Mask by Shel Silverstein and Qui a cassé la lune? by Henriette Major. (The provincial rule is no photographs during the performances, so I took these afterwards.)

And here are a few more layouts to share that I made on the weekend:

Two things you want very badly at the moment
1. Spring!!
2. To lose weight

Two favourite pets you have/had
1. Muffin, the peek-a-poo we had since I was seven (she died shortly after Cameron and I got married.)
2. Coco (our siamese cat that we had when I was four. Apparently he never liked us!)

Two things you did last night
1. Played KinderBunnies with the kids
2. Scrapbooked along with the MSS online crop

Two things you have eaten today
1. Half of a Belgium waffle
2. A glass of skim milk

Two people you last talked to

Two Places You have been in the past year

And I thought I'd share another layout that I made for the MSS online crop for a St. Patty's Day challenge: create a mostly green layout.

And because I've been thinking about the fact that I like purchasing stamps but don't use them very often, I'm trying to make more of an effort to use them. I used a MSS Red Star Kit stamp (the woman figure) and then altered it to make the little girl. I also used a Basic Grey swirl stamp and a Just Cre8 alpha set that came as a part of my Creative Idol prize.

Lemonade

My friend & fellow CMK DT member, Sherry Stevenson has written a book called When Life Gives you Lemons. It's about turning "sour" pictures into "sweet" scrapbooking pages.

I absolutely love this concept! And not only with photos, but with my layout mistakes as well. If you'd like to read more about this, check out today's post on the MSS blog.

Here are a couple more layouts that I made with the MSS March kit:

I love a no-school day!

They cancelled school today because of freezing rain and icy road conditions. So we're hanging out at home and I'm hoping to get some scrapping done. :) And for inspiration, there are a couple of early early-bird challenges post on the MSS blog for this weekend's Online Crop.

I also have some cinnamon bun dough mixing in the breadmaker, so I want to make them up this morning, too.

For lent last year, I was inspired to make a lent journal, which I really enjoyed. (You can see it here, here, here & here.) Because I enjoyed the process of creating faith-themed works throughout the lent season, I decided to do something similar this year.

But instead of a art journal, I've decided to create some canvases.

I created this canvas last year and hung it in my hallway, with the idea of creating others to hang as a grouping. But the other canvases never materialized.

Until now.

(I'm not sure why the picture looks a little blurry. You can click on it for a larger, sharper image.)

I can't believe...

that's it's been a week since I've blogged!!

It's not that I've been terribly busy, although some days seem to get away from me before I get everything done. I've been volunteering in Austin's class (& Jonah's tomorrow). I love that they want me to come and volunteer in their classes. And I figure, if they want me to, they I will.

I've also done a little creating lately. Some of which I'll share today.

Here are some layouts that I made with the MSS March kit:

I love these colours... they're totally making me long for Spring! If you'd like to see what the other members of the MSS DT created with the kit, click here.
