Case Study #180 & Wplus9 Week 4

Hi there!

Today I have a card to share that I made for a couple of challenges.
Firstly, it's for the most recent Case Study Challenge, where they're featuring one of my
favourite stampers: Danielle Flanders.

As inspired as I was by this card, I was actually more inspired
by the card that Danielle made for the challenge:

Isn't it cool?
Since I have that cover plate, I decided to use it like a mask with watercolours,
just like Danielle did.

Here's my card:

After using the cover plate as a stencil and adding some splatter,
I added some die cut/stamped Wplus9 Fanciful Feathers, attached with a button.
The sentiment is also from Fanciful Feathers.

Now, I have to say that adding the splatter with the paintbrush
like that was totally out of my comfort zone -- because I couldn't control exactly where it went!
So, I'm linking this up to WPlus9's Birthday Celebration Week 4 Challenge: Stretch It,
because this messy technique was a stretch for me.

CAS(E) This Sketch #66

Today, I have a card to share that I made for
CAS(E) This Sketch #66 by Julie Day:

With this sketch, I decided to make a wedding/anniversary card,
using some Crate Paper patterned paper and my new Inspiration Ave. stamp set.

Here's my card:

I stamped the large ampersand on some sweet blush card stock
& added a strip of Crate Paper patterned paper.
I used my Reverse Confetti Double-edged scallop die with some silver shimmer card stock
to create my scalloped edge.
The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Wonderful Words Additions stamp set.

Visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see the rest of the DT's takes on the sketch
and to play along, if you'd like.
You have until Thursday, March 6th to link up your card.

Before you go, I also have a post up over at Reverse Confetti today for the Confetti Camera series!

PTI February Blog Hop

Well, it's the 25th which means it's time for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

This month's challenge is Sweet Spring.

Here's my card:

For my background, I used a Lil Inkers cover plate to make a mask
and applied some embossing paste.
Using my PTI Feather Finery stamps and dies, I added these to a banner
that I die cut using PTI's Get a Handle on It die and stamped using a stamp
from Reverse Confetti's Lots to Say stamp set.
A PTI button and twine finish it off.

How Sweet it is...

Today, I have a layout to share that I made using
some Reverse Confetti stamps & dies.

I used some Crate Paper patterned paper for my background and stitched it together.
For my title, I die cut the larger tag from Reverse Confetti's Tag Me die set and used is as a banner.
On this, I stamped some sentiments from Sweet Thing in versa mark
and heat embossed them in white.

The enamel dots are My Mind's Eye.
Here's a close-up of my journaling, which I die cut using the smaller tag from Tag Me

More feathers, but in a different way

Today, I have a card to share that I made for the Fusion #4 Challenge:

I was totally inspired by the colourful butterflies on the pink background
with the white leaves around the edges.

I don't have any butterfly stamps,
so I decided to get creative and use my Wplus9 Fanciful Feathers stamps
to make a butterfly.

I stamped the same feather four times, masking off the middle.
Then, I fussy cut it out by hand.
For my background, I stamped some PTI Turning a New Leaf leaves around the edges
of my sweet blush cardstock and heat embossed them in white.
The sentiment is also from Fanciful Feathers -- I just love this font!

I'm linking this card up to Wplus9's Birthday Celebration Week 3: Trend Watch
because I used a hand lettering sentiment stamp & some enamel dots.

More watercolour feathers

Today I have a card to share that I made using a couple of
watercolour- stamped feathers that I had leftover from making this card.

I inked the edges of my card.
I also used my falling snow stencil & my blending tool to add
inked dots to my background.
I stamped my sentiment and adhered my watercoloured, diecut feathers.
A few Pretty Pink Posh Metallic sequins finish it off.

CAS(E) This Sketch #65

Today, I have a card to share that I made for
CAS(E) This Sketch #65 by Sam Simpson:

For my card, I was inspired by this post by Danielle Flanders
where she posted this photo:

I loved these water coloured feathers and decided to make my own using some
watercolour paints and my WMS Fine Feathers stamp set.

I painted the watercolours directly onto my stamps and stamped them on watercolour paper.
I added some droplets of paint, as well as a stamped sentiment
from PTI's Think Big Favourites #12.
A few enamel dots finish it off.

Visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see the rest of the DT's takes on the sketch
and to play along, if you'd like.
You have until Thursday, February 27th to link up your card.

Sending Lots of Love

Today I have a card to share that I made
using the Reverse Confetti Arrow die in a fun way.

I die cut the arrow twice from my card stock background and once from another scrap
of card stock.
I inked them up using some sweet blush, summer sunrise and bubblegum inks.
Then I popped two of them back into my card.
For the third one, I stamped my sentiment (from Wplus9's Valentine Wishes) onto the card.
Then I stamped it again onto my arrow and then adhered it to my card
with some dimensional adhesive.
A few enamel dots finish it off.

because I used a hand lettering sentiment stamp & some enamel dots.

Cure For the Monday Blues #5

Today, I have a layout to share that I made for

I loved this photo and started thinking of ideas for a card.
But then, I realized that I really loved it as inspiration for a layout.

I started with some photos that Austin took of us in January.
I'd just wanted a photo of me reading to Sage & Jonah, as it's something we do almost
every night.
However, Jonah decided to be a little goofy while Austin was taking the photos!

For a change, I didn't use any patterned paper.

I used some Bazzill card stock (for the background) & PTI card stock for the rest.

I typed our names using my typewriter and then stamped a heart from
Ali Edwards' Technique Tuesday Incredible stamp set.
I stamped the heart again in red and then stamped the date with my date stamp.
The Good Times and flower image is from Basic Grey/Hero Arts Sunshine stamp set.

These stamps are all from the AE Incredible set.

I copied the poster from the inspiration photo almost identically, but
I had to line everything up. ;)
For this, I used my Mama Elephant Inline Alphabet dies.

Reverse Confetti February Colour Challenge

Well, it's the 16th of the month, which means that
there is a new Colour Challenge up on the Reverse Confetti blog today!

And here's the card I made using this colour combo:

My niece turned 18 recently and a week before she did, I took her out for a photo shoot.
I printed up the best photos and made her an 8x8 album, using black, white & grey patterned paper.
I decided to make her a coordinating birthday card to go with it
and this colour combo turned out to be perfect to do so!

I used some My Mind's Eye patterned paper as my background.
I die cut the larger tag from the Reverse Confetti Tag Me die set, but I made it a little longer by not running the end through my die cutting machine and just trimming it out.
I stamped my sentiment from Lots to Say (one of my favourite sets!) in versa mark
and heat embossed it with red embossing powder.
I added some die cut numbers, stitching, twine & enamel dots to finish it off.

Using leftovers

Today, I have two cards to share, as well as a layout.

I made the two cards using some leftover Fresh Cut Floral die cuts that I had
stored with my dies.
where the challenge is to add dimension to our cards.

They're very similar, both using Fresh Cut Floral stamps & die cuts
and a sentiment from Funky Feathers.
I also used some PTI card stock, buttons & twine.
I heat embossed my sentiment with sea foam white embossing powder.

And, I have  a layout to share.

I came across my Create: Sketches book from last spring recently and remembered

Well, obviously that fell by the wayside a bit,
but I thought I'd continue with the challenge.
I was trying to remember why I'd stopped, when I noticed the next sketch:

It's a sketch where they want you to use a really large photo.
For a 12x12 layout, I'd have to use an 8x12" photo, which I didn't have.

However, I did find an 8x10 in my photos, so I decided to use it for my layout.

I used some Basic Grey patterned paper & embellishments.
I also used my PTI Book Print dies (uppercase & numbers) and some stamps from
my Destination stamp set.

If you create a layout using this sketch,
please link it here in my comments or here in the PTI forum.

PTI Anniversary, Day 9

I'm popping in this evening to post the cards that Sage & I made for the PTI Anniversary Day 9 Challenge,
(which was a super fun one where we used a random generator to choose what colours, supplies, techniques & sketch we'd use on our card.)

Because I didn't get called into work today,
I challenged myself to make a card for each sketch using the random generator.

Here are the sketches:

I'm going to share the cards I made in the order that I made them.

First up is Sketch #5, where I also used:
pure poppy, orange zest, summer sunrise & vintage cream.
I had to make a "congratulations" card, using the rock & roll technique,
brads and thread.

I used some Simple Stories patterned paper & decorative brad.
I stamped my Wonderful Words Additions sentiment using the rock & roll technique.
I diecut a Reverse Confetti arrow but made it longer in my die cutting machine by running it though one way part way, shifting the die down and then running it through the other way. Then I trimmed of some of the feathers.

For my next card, I used Sketch #3, along with
canyon clay, sweet blush, new leaf and stamper's select white.
I also had to make another "congratulations" card, but this time use a watercolour
technique, enamel dots and thread.

I used my The Sweet Life stamp set. I stamped it in versa mark and heat embossed it in white.
Then, I pressed the different colours of ink onto my kraft mat, spritzed it with water
and used a paint brush to add the colour to my card.
The sentiment was stamped in black.
And the enamel dots and stitching finish it off.

For my third card, I used Sketch #6, along with
harvest gold, raspberry fizz, new leaf & stamper's select white.
I had to make a "just because" card with an inlaid die cuts technique,
enamel dots & button twine.

I used some Echo Park patterned paper, along with a Simon Says Stamp hello die,
my PTI double ended banner die and some gold shimmer card stock.
I die cut the word from the sweet blush card stock and layered it over some white card stock, before adhering it to my card.
The banners are adhered with dimensional adhesive.

For my fourth card, I used Sketch #4, as well as
harvest gold, berry sorbet, hibiscus burst & vintage cream
I had to make another "just because" card, using water colouring,
buttons & button twine.

For this one, I used the same technique as my Sweet Life card, above,
but I used Feather Finery and sea foam white embossing powder.
I stamped the sentiment onto the panel and heat embossed it in clear embossing powder.
The I layered my die over top and traced around it with a pencil.
I stamped & water coloured the whole panel and then die cut the feather from it, using the pencil
lines as guidelines for where to place my die.

For my fifth card, I used Sketch #1, as well as
dark chocolate, raspberry fizz, melon berry and fine linen.
I needed to make a birthday card with heat embossing, brads & thread.

I stamped with Mehndi Medallion all over a trimmed fine linen panel.
I die cut the Wonderful Words die from chocolate brown.
I stamped the sentiment onto a vellum double-ended banner die cut and heat embossed it
with dark brown embossing powder.
I stitched the vellum strip in place.

And the last sketch was Sketch #4, which I needed to use with
hawaiian shores, berry sorbet, spring moss and classic kraft.
I needed to make a "friend" card with heat embossing,
a decorative brad & thread.

(Sorry for the not-so-great photo of this one!)
I used Framed Out #12 for my dies and stamp and some Echo Park patterned paper.
For my decorative brad, I used a SU! Build a brad and stamped a heart from Love Lives Here: Holiday
in spring moss onto some spring moss card stock.

I'm linking up this last card to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Get Krafty,
where we're challenged to use kraft on our card.

And Sage wanted to play along, too.
She got Sketch  #4, with
pure poppy, orange zest, melon berry & fine linen.
She had to make a birthday card with heat embossing,
 buttons & button twine.

When she got her colour combo, she told me she wanted to stamp a campfire.
I didn't think we had a campfire image, but we found one in Summer Camp.

We heat embossed the campfire image in dark brown embossing powder and
Sage coloured it in with markers.
The pattern dapper is American Crafts.
The sentiment is also from Summer Camp and Sage
printed the arrow & birthday herself. Isn't it cute?
