I actually struggled a little with this challenge,

because I don't have a lot of "boy-themed" embellishments in my stash.

I decided to use an older Cat's Meow stamp set,

along with a Crate Paper diecut, to make a Valentine card for Jonah.

I started by stamping the speedometer and sentiment.

I trimmed my panel and backed it with some October Afternoon patterned paper.

Then, I adhered my car diecut using dimensional adhesive.

Papertrey Ink 9th Anniversary Celebration Day 10 & stamps & dies for sale

This is my second post for today.

I have another card for Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary Celebration.

This one is for Day 10: Paper Craft Alphabet Challenge.

The idea is that you have a challenge for each letter in your name.

I did my whole first name and the first initial of my last name.

L -- lean your sentiment at an angle

E -- incorporate an emboss resist technique

I -- use an impression plate

G -- add a touch of gold

H -- heat emboss an image or sentiment

P -- use pink on your project

I also decided to use 

Ashley Cannon Newell's Colour Combo from the Day 1 Challenge: DT Favourites:

Here's my card:

I used the Graceful Greetings stamp set and heat embossed my sentiment on an angle.

Over this, I applied some hawaiian shored ink with my Tim Holtz blending tool.

I stamped the flowers (also from Graceful Greetings) onto my card front

as well as on some coordinating diecuts.

I ran my panel through my diecutting machine with my woodgrain impression plate,

before adhering my diecuts.

I matted it all on a piece of aqua mist cardstock, which I substituted for the soft stone.

Before I go, I have some stamps & dies that aren't getting enough love from me

and would benefit from being in a new home.

Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary Celebration: Day 9

Happy Valentine's Day!

I wanted to share the valentines' treats that Sage and I made for her classmates.

We cut some panels from white cardstock, scored them and attached them to 

glassine bags filled with Butter Crunch.

They were a big hit!

Cards for the boys on the left and for the girls on the right.

I used the Be Mine, Valentine stamp set from PTI.

And here's one for her teachers:

And here's one of the six that I made for my Sunday School girls:

I stamped the cat and sentiment from MFT's Cat-itude stamp set.

I added the heart with some ink mixed with water and a paintbrush.

The Happy Valentine's Day stamp is from Reverse Confetti's Crushin' stamp set.

I also have a card to share for 

Papertrey Ink's Anniversary Celebration: Day 9 -- Saturday Snail Mail Challenge.

Since my card is going to the PTI Warehouse Staff, I thought it would be fun

to combine stamp sets from my first order (placed 5 years ago!) and my latest order.

So I chose Wonderful Words (I can't still remember my excitement in seeing this set be released!)

and the free set that I got with my December order.

I also picked one of the colour combos from the Day 1 Challenge: DT Favourites.

It's Lizzie Jones':

Here's my card:

I started by inking my stamper's select white panel with hawaiian shores ink

and then diecutting the "you" (from Wonderful Words) from my panel, 

as well as from a coaster.

I stamped the flowers onto my panel, as well as onto some coordinating dies.

When I adhered my card to the white panel, 

I adhered the coaster diecut and then the diecut from the inked panel over top.

I stamped the "thank" from Wonderful Words in versa mark

and heat embossed it in white.

Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary Celebration: Days 5 & 8

Today, I have a sampler to share that I created for the

 Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary Celebration: Day 5: Sample Square Challenge.

I decided to use the same stamp set and dies 

to make my sample squares -- from the Garden Gild mini MIM kit.

And here's a breakdown of my techniques:

1. Masking.

2. Heat embossed with ink blending for the background.

3. Rock and Roll.

4. Heat embossed on watercolour paper, then wet and coloured with Zigs.

5. Stamping the colour and then going back and applying a darker ink 

to the edges with a blending tool  to the stamp and stamping again.

6. Heat embossed and then smooshed.

7. Ink the stamps and then spritz with water before stamping.

8. Creating a stencil with the dies and then blending ink overtop.

9. Colouring the stamps with Zigs and then spritz with water before stamping.

I also have a card to share for the Day 8: Colour Pop Fortune Teller.

Sage helped me put together the Fortune Teller and then figured out my colours:
Hawaiian Shores, Spring Rain and Blueberry Sky.

Now, I have to admit, while I love Hawaiian Shores, I very rarely use
Spring Rain or Blueberry Sky.
And I would have never thought to put them together.
Sage suggested that we try a different colour to start, but I figured this was all part of the challenge.
And I won't lie -- it was challenging.

I actually made two other cards, but I wasn't happy with either of them.

Here's what I ended up with...

I stamped my sentiment (from PTI's Phrases & Praises) onto a piece of Basic Grey patterned paper,

which I matted onto Hawaiian Shores cardstock.

Here's a close-up.

I'm actually pretty pleased with how it turned out!

Using Leftovers

I had a bunch of diecut hearts leftover from making this card that I shared yesterday,

and decided to make another card using them.

I inked up my panel using enchanted evening, tropical teal and Hawaiian shore inks.

I had a bunch of hearts leftover from using the two heart dies from Stamped Note Confetti Cuts,

so I adhered them to my card.

I stamped the arrow behind the one large heart and the sentiment (both from Crushin')
in enchanted evening ink.

Reverse Confetti's Sketch For You To Try #33 & CAS(E) This Sketch #159

Today, I have two cards to share.
The first one is for this month's Sketch for You to Try at Reverse Confetti:

I couldn't resist using the S'more Love penguins from the January Release to make my card

-- they're just so cute!

 

Look, it's a penguin party!

I started my stamping the large "XOX" from Big Notes on my aqua mist panel in aqua mist ink.

Then, over that, at the top, I stamped the sentiment from Lovey Words Coordinates.

I diecut a Woodgrain Confetti Cuts panel from white cardstock to anchor my penguins.

I stamped the S'more Love stamped onto the S'more Love Confetti Cuts

and coloured them in with my Zig markers and by pressing ink on to my acrylic

block, adding water and using a paintbrush to apply the ink.

I diecut the Lovey Words Confetti Cuts from aqua mist cardstock

and inked it using a blending tool and hawaiian shores ink.

Here's my card:

I inked up my panel using enchanted evening, tropical teal and Hawaiian shore inks.

I diecut a bunch of hearts using the two heart dies from Stamped Note Confetti Cuts

and adhered them to my card.

For the sentiment, I diecut the Lovey Words Confetti Cuts several times from

enchanted evening cardstock and stamp my Lovey Words Coordinates sentiment

in coordinating ink.

Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary Celebration Challenges, Day 2 & 3

Today, I have two cards to share for Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary Celebration Challenges.

The first one is for the Day 2: Dress Up Inspiration Challenge.

I bought this skirt last year at Old Navy and thought it would inspire a fun card:

I decided to pair my PTI Phrases and Praises stamp set with the sweet birds from Wee Folk.

At first, I thought I'd just pull the colours from the skirt and stamp the birds in different colours, 

but I decided to stamp them in black and colour them in with my Zigs, to match the skirt.

I added a few flourishes from Wee Folk as well.

On the side, I stamped some of the larger flourishes from Wee Folk in berry sorbet,

onto a piece of berry sorbet cardstock, for a soft tone-on-tone effect.

My second card is for the Day 3: Grab & Craft Challenge.

Now, when I had first gone looking in my closet to try and figure out which outfit/item of clothing would inspire me for the Day 2: Dress Up Inspiration Challenge,

I saw a scarf that I love, which has a white background and yellow, black and grey flowers.

But then, I remembered the skirt and chose that instead.

I decided to still use the scarf for my inspiration to make a card, so I quickly 

grabbed my Brushed Blooms stamp set, some ink and cardstock,

and white embossing powder and made my card:

I was super happy with how it tuned out!

I used some Stormy Seas ink and cardstock.

The sentiment is from Bloomers, which was sitting out on my craft table.

PTI 9th Anniversary Celebration, MFT Wednesday Sketch & Fusion

Today, I have a couple of cards to share.... for a couple of challenges.

First up is a card that I made for the current Fusion Challenge {Paper Hearts},

where I used the sketch:

I also made it for the Papertrey Ink 9th Anniversary Challenge, Day 1: DT Favourites,

using this colour combination by Kay Miller:

Here's my card:

I stamped my flowers (from Papertrey Ink's Bloomers) onto their coordinating diecuts

in summer sunrise/orange zest & lovely lady (which I substituted for sweet blush)/raspberry fizz.

I stamped the leaves (from Wplus9's Spring Blooms) in limeade ice.

I cut a strip of Crate Paper patterned paper for the side of my card,

on which I stamped my sentiment from KIS: Birthday.

My second card is for Papertrey Ink's Create Along With Us Challenge,

where I was inspired by this card by Kay Miller:

I love how Kay inked part of the word diecut like that -- it's so pretty!

I decided to do the same thing on my card, but on a KIS: Frame instead,

using this week's MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge:

I  stamped my sentiment, using PTI's Phrases and Praises stamp set.

The flowers (MFT's Fall Florals) were stamped onto coordinating diecuts 

in the colour combos that Maile Belles shared 

on the PTI 9th Anniversary Challenge, Day 1: DT Favourites:

I actually diecut the frame three times: once from white cardstock, which I inked with aqua mist

and my blending tool, and twice from aqua mist cardstock, which I stacked together 

to add a little dimension and stability to my frame.
