Sing!

Everytime I take my three year old son, Jonah, to Sunday School or Wednesday morning Bible study, he says : "Don't want to sing, Mom. Don't want to sing!" And I tell him that no one will make him sing. And then afterward, his teachers tell me that he ALWAYS sings!
Not that I'm surprised, because he sings a lot at home. Mostly theme songs from his favourite shows: Zoboomafoo, Bob the Builder & Doodlebops. But, what's cool lately, is that he has been singing praise songs. He'll sing ones from Sunday School like Stand on the Rock, but I've also caught him singing ones from "Big Church": like Blessed Be the Name of the Lord ("You give and take away, you give and take away, my heart will choose to say, Lord blessed be your name" and How Great is our God ("sing with me") . He's so cool!

"From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise." Psalm 8:2

The girl likes my supplies

I was scrapbooking this afternoon and went into the computer room to scan a layout and checked my emails and My Scrap Shoppe. When I returned to my scrap table, I found Sage, my 16 month old, under the table and her face was red. Red. Like ink pad red. Because, she had gotten into my supplies-- namely my alphabet stamps. The stamps were spread all over the floor, in pieces and she had read ink all over her hands, face, ears and hair! (I would have taken a picture, but Cameron had taken it along with him this afternoon.) I remembered that baby wipes remove ink, so I managed to get rid of most of it, but even after a bath, her hair still looks a little red!

I guess I need to find a new storage space for my supplies...

Creepy Cakes

Austin was inspired by the "creepy cakes" in the Martha Stewart Kids magazine and thought we should make some. We purchased the ingredients today after school, baked the cupcakes in the oven while we ate supper and iced & decorated them after baths. Here are the results (don't be scared!) :

Goodbye, Baby

Cameron was getting tired of the hair in Sage's eyes, so I took her to get her bangs trimmed this morning. I was hesitant to do so, because, Lisa, my hairdresser, said she'd look more grown up with bangs. And she was right...

The park

We have this great park about 5 blocks away from our house and for the third time in the past week or so, we bundled up and went sledding there this evening. It's so peaceful and still in the evening, and we're the only ones there. The other day I took my new camera with us to see how well it would take pictures in the dark. Tobogganing with the boys is lots of fun-- it feels so good to get outside, do something relatively active and laugh so hard!

My website

Yay! I'm so excited... my webpage is fixed and looks great! Check it out here if you'd like:
www.lpdesigns.ca
I had a great time on www.myscrapshoppe.com last night. Myself and two other design team members hosted a Quick Crop, which got off to a rocky start (the other people on the site couldn't find us-- we just thought it was really slow on the forum!) but it turned out to be lots of fun! Here's the layout I made two nights ago at a friend's house, but finished up the journaling last night:

The five of us went to Winnipeg today for a day of shopping. I was especially excited to go to a scrapbooking store and spend the $25 gift certificate there that my brother gave me for Christmas. Austin, my six year old came into the store with me and chatted with the clerk while I looked around. This kid can ask questions, I tell you! I found a stack of K&Company 8.5x11 paper that I thought would be cool and went back to find matching embellishments. All the while, my son would not stop talking! So when I found some mathcing title embellishment that inlcuded one that said :"The strong and not so silent type" I had to buy them for a layout about Austin!

I did it again

I am a creative communitcator with our church's children's program on Sunday mornings (ROX)and have been so for over 6 years now. And I love it. I do.

But some days I feel so overwhelmed by all the things I need to get done, or the things I want to get done, that I feel I don't have a lot of time for anything extra.

I'm not sure when ROX started feeling like extra, because I love serving God in this way. However, I need to be careful not to volunteer to do anything more than I can handle.

This morning, at our meeting, I found myself volunteering, again. Sure, I can make the bookmarks with the verse on them. Sure I can write that skit, and I thought... When?

So, now, while Sage is napping, I got the bookmarks done and will begin on the skit. And hopefully God will multiply my time so I can get everything else done, too.

What a great day...

First, I got an email from Simple Scrapbooks requesting to publish one of my layouts on their Simple Inspiration Online. Yay. And I could just email it in, no worrying about mailing it.

Then, I got a pm from Melanie at Scraptivity!, telling me that I won a RAK at their NYE crop!
Yay, again.

Happy New Year!

Well, 2006 has rolled around and with it... the dreaded resolutions. I'm not sure what it is about the new year that makes me feel like "this is it, this is the year that I will reach my goal."

What is my goal? Well, I'm sure there are many things about my character that I could choose to work on. But, my goal is to lose weight. And maybe if I write it down here, I can commit to the plan and lose the 25, no 30 lbs. that I would like to lose this year.

To be healthier, in better shape and to feel better about myself.
