So I've been thinking about trying something new.
I like the idea of Project Life albums for being able to tell all of the little stories that
don't get scrapbooked.
However, I have some friends that have done PL and
they pretty much stopped scrapbooking and making cards while they were doing it.
And I don't want that.
This past year, I discovered Alexandra S. M.'s blog.
She is amazing and very inspiring!
I was most inspired by how she created photo collages of her week and would scrapbook them --
I love these!
However, I also know that doing this every week would be too much for me.
For one, I just don't take that many photos anymore.
And two, well, our lives are pretty routine and not all that exciting...
(I know this is probably hard to believe, but it's true.)
So, I've come up with a plan.
In the fall, I won this great Basic Grey package (thanks, Page Maps!)
that included some albums, dividers, sectioned page protectors, etc.
And I've decided that I'm going to scrapbook a month at a time, creating a page with a photo collage and using the sectioned pockets to emphasize or highlight certain things.
And I'm determined to stay up to date with this,
so you can look for my January post in February. ;)
But firstly, I decided to create a title page for my album,
using some Reverse Confetti stamps & dies.
I used one of the Basic Grey sheets that came with the package as my background.
I added some patterned paper scraps and used our Christmas card photo.
I used the Tag Me dies to cut some banners for my page,
on which I stamped some sentiments & images from Go Together.
I couldn't resist adding a little heart die cut (cut from the little strip of hearts from Love Note)
and button to the house image.
And some stitching finishes it off and leaves everything nice and secure!
Love your cover page, and it's a great plan! I started a monthly PL in August and just love it. I'm still working on December due to lots of holiday traveling and my son's wedding, but I would usually have it done by now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea, to scrap a month at a time. Sounds perfectly doable. Your title page is perfect and I can't wait to see what your January pages will look like!
ReplyDeleteI love your cover page Leigh...gorgeous family photo. I am doing Project Life, but I keep it extremely simple!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great idea Leigh. And I love all the little details you've added to your cover page.

ReplyDeleteGreat idea Leigh, I look forward to seeing your pages!
ReplyDeleteLeigh this is such a fantastic idea. I love your first page, your lovely photo and great design! Good luck with this and ii am looking forward to your posts.
ReplyDeleteHello dear Leigh,
ReplyDeleteI love your cover page and the fact that you have found a way to record your family's life that works with you!
Thank You so very much for mentioning my name, I am touched beyond words and I look forward to following your new creative project!
I have never even considered a PL album - just would never would be able to do a weekly spread, but I love the idea of a monthly review. I often wish I had a way to record the changing seasons, gardening etc. and this looks like it would be a perfect way to do that. January should be easy ... just lots of white paper with the word SNOW!! LOL!! It's still early enough in the year that I can get a start. Thanks for a wonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteI too have wondered about PL and got excited about trying to do it this year, but then I remembered like you that I don't take many photos, so what would I include weekly...so I love your idea about doing a monthly page. Your cover page is really fantastic the colors in your photo and your added details work so well together. I look forward to seeing what else you create. Robin
ReplyDeleteLeigh, this is fantastic and I can't wait to see how your new plan plays out. You expressed some similar feelings of mine and I'm hopeful that maybe your new plan could work in a way for me. :)
ReplyDeleteA month at a time sounds resonable lol!! I lead a very boring life except when I have the grandkids, so not alot for me to do something like this. I love your page!
ReplyDeleteOHHHHHHHHH! This is a fab page! I LOVE the banners and that house with the little heart--- FUN! LOVE your goal for scrapbooking- it fits your schedule/life and it's not too much for you! That's how goals should be- easily attained with some effort on our end:) I make goals like this too-- however, last year I made a goal to make one layout a month…. I didn't make one! LOL! Guess I should modify my goal to be at least one page a year;) LOL! :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE this!!! Your Layout is so fabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Love this page, too!! Hugs-Jen
ReplyDeleteLove your idea to scrapbook on a monthly basis!!! I just wish I could get started.....I vowed (and did) to take a photo a day in December in hopes that I could at least do a Dec. daily. Maybe I can make that my goal for this year! Way to rock RC on this layout!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Leigh! Boy, did your words really resonate with me in regards to wanting to do PL, but reconciling that with how it would greatly impact card making and other projects. I did 2.5 months of PL in 2012 when I just started blogging and didn't have any commitments. I really love the weeks I completed and want to get back there somehow. I'm still struggling with what that means for me.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, love what Alexandra does, and happy to see you do something similar. I enjoy looking back on my monthly photo collages. Good luck!!
