Cas(e) this Sketch #87 & Tag You're It Challenge #3

Today, two of my favourite challenges are joining forces:
CAS(E) This Sketch & Tag You're It are doing a joint challenge this week.

For this week's challenge, we are encouraged to create a project
that includes a tag (so it can be a tag, card, scrapbooking layout, etc.)
using this CAS(E) This Sketch #87 by Gayatri Murali:

The two sweet little "symbols for boys'  & girls' bathrooms"
(this is what Sage called them! LOL!)
were so cute & reminded me that I had a couple of these in my stash
that were just begging to be used.
Here's what I made:

I used some American Crafts Dear Lizzy patterned paper.

I die cut two of the smallest tag from Reverse Confetti's Tag Me and then trimmed it down
on both sides.
I die cut the Beautiful Banners Confetti Cuts from the patterned paper and
stamped the Beautiful Banners banner and sentiment.
I slipped the metal paper clips (yes, they're paper clips!) through
the holes of the tags and when I went to put my card together, I decided that
I wanted the ends of the tags to stick out the bottom of the banner,
so I die cut two more tags, trimmed them down and cut them in half
and adhered them under the banner.

One from me, two from Sage

One from me:

I made a card yesterday evening, for this week's Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink: Diamond Wallpaper Stamping.

It's my husband's birthday tomorrow and I always use PTI's On the Farm set to make his cards (for proof click here & here.)

I chose the colours for my card based on these cards that Betsy Veldman shared on her blog earlier this month.

I stamped my diamond background using the double striped stamp from Simply Framed, 

inked the edges and added the stars (from Summer Camp) in red.

The other images and sentiment are from On the Farm and I heat embossed the sentiment on a double-ended banner die cut.

I'm also linking my card up to this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Emboss It.

Two from Sage:

Before Sage left for camp, I suggested that she make a couple of thank you cards

to give to her counsellors at the end of the week.

She used PTI's Slide Frame die with some aqua mist card stock,

stamped the lake scene from Summer Camp and then water coloured it, using dye inks spritzed with water.

She added some Lawn Fawn critters, which she also water coloured and cut out by hand.

The sentiments are from Wplus9's Fanciful Feathers stamp set.

Aren't they sweet?

Cas(e) this Sketch #86 -- take 2

I'm just popping in today to share another card that I made for

 CAS(E) This Sketch #86 by Sam Simpson:

Here's my card:

I started with some We R Memory Keepers journaling cards. 

I die cut the striped one with my Papertrey Ink Journaling Card 1 die.

I die cut the floral one using a PTI Life is Beautiful butterfly die. 

I trimmed the rest of it to adhere along the side of the card.

I die cut some yellow card stock using my PTI hearts border die.

I die cut another PTI Life is Beautiful butterfly die from white card stock to 

layer over my floral butterfly die cut.

I stamped the sentiment from Life is Beautiful in mint & hibiscus burst.

Cards for camp for Sage

Some of you might remember that last year,

when Jonah when to camp, I made him a set of cards for him to get

his blessing each night (click!)

Well, this summer, it's Sage's turn to go to camp.

I've already shared two cards that I made for her (click & click!), 

and I made three more for her this afternoon, using

this week's Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink: No Outline Watercolour.

I used similar colours & products on each card. 

The card stock (canyon clay, fine linen, aqua mist, vintage cream) & inks (hawaiian shores,

fine linen, canyon clay, terracotta tile, dark chocolate, new leaf) are all PTI.

I also used the rectangle stitched frame from the MIM Sprinkes kit on each one, 

as well as sentiments from Summer Camp & Get Lost.

Here are my cards: 

Here, I water coloured the squirrel from Nuts for You.

Here, I used the fox from Hello, Foxy.

And lastly, on this one, I used the little owl from Lawn Fawn's Into the Woods.

(I originally followed the instructions for the MIM technique, but the 

owl's face got a little blurred, so I restamped the owl in dark chocolate over top.

The log, however, still has the "no outline watercolour" technique.

Five for Friday

1. We've had such a great week visiting with my brother, his girlfriend & my nephew, Noah!

This was a photo that we took of the cousins six years ago, in 2008:

And this is the photo that we took on Monday:

They haven't changed too much.... ;)

2. Noah spent the night with us and we played Risk & watched Frozen.

We took him to the beach on Tuesday.

3. On Thursday, we planned "the best day ever." In the morning, we went to the zoo....

4.... and then, after lunch at A&W, we went to the Fun Mountain Water Slides.

5. I'm playing along with the July Papertrey Ink Blog Hop today.

This month's challenge was to be inspired by this photo:

I was inspired by the gingham pattern on the envelope, the colours

and the bird.

I really wanted to use my new Papertrey Ink Sprinkles MIM kit,

so I created a shaker card.

The patterned paper is My Mind's Eye, which I layered over vintage cream card stock.

The frame was die cut using the frame from the MIM kit.

I stamped the sentiment (Wet Paint) and birds (Feather Finery) onto 

the cream card stock behind the frame and filled the shaker with sequins from the kit.

Reverse Confetti Quirky Cuties Blog Hop

For the hop, I chose to make a card using the adorable Rocky Raccoon & 

 CAS(E) This Sketch #86 by Sam Simpson:

I wanted to work with this week's sketch and I got the idea to rotate it &
give my card front the feel of an envelope & make Rocky into a postage stamp.
With him holding that sweet envelope, he seems very well suited for this position! ;)

I started by diecutting the rectangle die from Class Act Confetti Cuts

from aqua mist card stock and then diecutting it again to give it more of a square shape.

I stamped Rocky Raccoon & then paper-pieced him with soft stone, pure poppy & white card stock. 

For his bandana, I used a stamp from So Stripey in pure poppy & aqua mist.

For the "stamp-like edges", I trimmed a piece of white card stock into a square and then

 used the notebook edge die from Office Edges Confetti Cuts to make the circle indents.

The top edge was also stamped using So Stripey.

I stamped the sentiments from So Very Special and then adhered my panel using dimensional adhesive.

Let's Chill

Hi there!

I'm just popping in today to share a card that I made using a 

stencil that I made with the Reverse Confetti's Perfectly Paisley Confetti Cuts

and some clear embossing paste.

I started with some Heidi Swapp patterned paper and, after applying the 

paste with my homemade stencil, I die cut the bottom edge with my Reverse Confetti

Double Edge Scallop Border die.

I also diecut a second sheet of patterned paper and layered it underneath.

I stamped the sentiment from Reverse Confetti's Let's Chill and heat

embossed it in white.

A few Pretty Pink Posh 4mm Sparkling Clear sequins finish it off.

A fun little summer project

A few weeks ago, I was shopping in town and saw 

the sweetest little bicycle.... it was all rusty & small and was created to 

be placed in a garden.... it had a basket in the front and two on the back wheel.

I have a love for bikes and thought how great it would be to put something like this in my garden.

The price, however, was a deterrent, but it didn't stop me from trying to figure

out how I could make something similar.

I ended up going to the MCC in Winkler to look for a cheap, old bike.

I wanted something so old that it wouldn't be cost effective to fix it up--

basically something that was headed for the dump.

They didn't have anything, but the man who worked them let me know about

a mission in town that had lots of old bikes just sitting in their yard.

I found one that was perfect -- flat tires, rusty, with a carrier over the back tire.

I bought it for a couple of dollars and hauled it home.

Now, I have to say that this project was going to be mine.... but somehow,

my kids got involved, too.

Austin was bored the morning we brought it home,

so I told him he could take off all of the extra parts (the brakes, reflectors, etc.)

Jonah washed it for me.

And they all wanted a turn spray painting it (I chose a flat black paint so it would

look like wrought iron.)

We ran out of spray paint and Austin walked to the store to buy another can

while we were at swimming lessons. 

When I got home, he'd finished a second coat.

Sage, Jonah and I hit the nurseries -- we didn't find annuals until the third one

(apparently mid-July is not the time to buy annuals....  who knew?)

I found some purple wave petunias and planted two in a container which

we duct-taped to the front of the bike.

Two more went in a container on the back rack.

Austin helped me anchor it down (we used fishing line and tent pegs)

and voilà... my new garden structure was complete.

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge #100

Today, I have a card to share that I made for the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge #100:

Now, the challenge is called Anything Goes, so I'm not sure if we

were suppose to be inspired by the inspiration photo, but I definitely was,

so I used it to make my card.

I started with some PTI stamper's select white card stock. 

I die cut several rectangle stitched frames (from PTI's Sparkles & Sprinkles kit)

from some Teresa Collins woodgrain patterned paper.

I adhered them to my card and stamped my sentiment: "congrats"  from PTI's Wet Paint III

& "for the happy couple" from Reverse Confetti's Lots to Say.

I die cut some Wplus9 Fresh Cut Florals and had fun stamping

them with colours from the inspiration photo.

A couple of projects

I have a couple of projects to share today...

First of all, I fell in love with this photo for Paper Smooches Picture Perfect Sparks Challenge:

Isn't it fabulous?

I would love some sweet jars like these!

Seeing as I recently ordered some fun dies from Paper Smooches,

I decided to make a card for the challenge:

I stamped my background using Simon Says Stamp Wide Stripe stamp.

I die cut the word dies from aqua mist card stock & matted the card on the same.

For the buildings, I die cut them from white card stock and

water coloured them by pressing some aqua mist/hawaiian shores &

sweet blush/berry sorbet inks onto my craft mat, spritzing them with water and then

painted them on with a wet paint brush. Such a fun technique!
