Pages With Papertrey Challenge #37

Today I have a new challenge to share for Pages With Papertrey
use the masking technique on your layout.

Here's my layout, where I did some masking to stamp
some rows of buildings using PTI's City Scene.

I stamped my title using Wet Paint Alphabet.
The patterned paper I tucked behind my building scene is Echo Park.
Here's a close up of my stamped scene:

The buildings were so fun to stamp & they complemented the buidlings in the photos,
which was the theme of the museum we visited.
The clouds were die cut using PTI's cloud dies.
The arrow at the bottom was stamped & die cut using PTI's A Few Pointers.

If you create a layout using this challenge, please post a link to it here on my blog
or here in the Papertrey Ink forum. I'd love to see what you create!

Five for Friday

1. This has been a busy week!
Mostly due to the fact that we've been having VBS every morning at our church.
I'm volunteering as the Crafts Station Leader. :)

2. I have some very exciting news to share....

I've been asked to stay on the Chickaniddy Crafts Team for another year!
I was so thrilled to be one of the four team members who were asked to stay on the team--
my kids can testify to the happy dance I did when I got the email. LOL!

Click here to see the names of the talented women who make up the new team.

3. I was so thrilled to get my new Chickaniddy Crafts goodies in the mail,
I couldn't wait to start playing with them!
So, I made this card, which I linking up to this week's
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

This card using supplies from the new Chickaniddy Crafts Scrumptious line:
patterned paper, stickers & stamps.
The dies I used are Papertrey Ink.

4.  We've had such a great summer and I'm so sorry to see it come to an end.
The kids start school next week & I imagine I will be starting back to work shortly after.
It's a good thing there are some fun things planned for this fall to look forward to.... ;)

5. I have a card to share that I made for Tag You're It Challenge #5
where we're being inspired by this lovely tag by TYIC Designer Donna Mikasa:

I was inspired by how Donna die cut her flowers & leaves from coloured card stock and then stamped on them, so I made a card with a tag  using the same technique.

I use one of my Pretty Pink Posh tag dies, which I die cut from vintage cream card stock.
I die cut my Wplus9 Fresh Cut Florals from spring moss, sweet blush & berry sorbet card stock
and stamped on them with the coordinating stamp set.
I stamped my sentiment in sweet blush and berry sorbet, using Papertrey Ink's Wet Paint stamp set.

Visit the Tag You're It Challenge Blog to see the rest of the DT's takes
on the challenge and to play along, if you'd like.
You have until Wednesday, September 10th to link up your project.

I'm also linking this card up to this week's
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

CAS(E) This Sketch #90

Here is the card that I made for

I used some Webster's Pages patterned paper and Papertrey Ink's Pedal Pusher stamp set.
I stamped the "keep on peddling" sentiment on vellum and die cut it with
PTI's Get a Handle On It die before adhering it over my bicycle image.

Visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see the rest of the DT's takes on the sketch
and to play along, if you'd like.
You have until Thursday, September 4th to link up your card.

You Are So Very Special to Me

Today, I have a card to share that I made using some Reverse Confetti.

I stamped my sentiment from So Very Special in sweet blush, lemon tart,
ocean tides & aqua mist onto some Heidi Swapp patterned paper.
I die cut the edge using the Double Edge Scallop Border and layered it over
another piece of Heidi Swapp patterned paper.
Some Pretty Pink Posh sequins finish it off.

Papertrey Ink August Blog Hop

Once again, it's time for the monthly Papertrey Ink Blog Hop.
This month's challenge was to be inspired by this photo.

After seeing the photo, I immediately thought of a piece of My Mind's Eye patterned paper
that I'd recently added to my collection.
I decided to use it to create a card and a layout for the challenge.

Here's my card:

I used the patterned paper as my background.
Can you see how a few of the circles are gold & shiny? That's why I chose it!
I created a thin border with some berry sorbet card stock (inspired by the thin border around the card in the photo) & stamped my sentiment (from Wet Paint) in aqua mist and heat embossed the "birthday" in gold.

Next, here's the layout:

I used the same patterned paper and created a thin border once again.
I stamped my title using Wet Paint Alphabets in versa mark and heat embossed it in gold.

This little typewriter is a Crate Paper Maggie Holmes embellishment.
I stamped the sentiment onto it -- it's a mix of sentiments from MM: February.

This tag & gold heart are also Maggie Holmes.
I stamped behind them with my Scribbled Circles stamp.

I was inspired by the envelope in the photo and decided to create a vellum envelope in which to tuck my journaling.

The "sweetheart records" embellishment is Maggie Holmes,
which I adhered to some sweet blush card stock that I'd die cut using Edgers #5 to make the tab.

Stamp-a-faire 2014 Time After Time Challenge #2

For the PTI Time After Time challenge, I went back on my blog to some of my earliest
posts that were labeled "cards" (before I started making cards, I was primarily a scrapbooker.)

I found this post, dated almost four years ago, in September 2010,
where I shared three cards that I made.
I decided to remake this one:

Okay, it's pretty cute but there are a lot of patterns happening here!
I sill love using patterned paper & stitching on my cards.
And, I love using journaling cards on my cards, too.
This was in my pre-stamping days, so my sentiment if computer generated.

Here's my remake....

I used a couple of We R Memory Keepers journaling card paper pads that I picked up a few days ago
at Hobby Lobby.
I stamped the two feathers onto die cuts card stock using the Feathers from Beautiful Brushstrokes.
I added some Pretty Pink Posh twine and a PTI button.

Stamp-a-faire 2014 Time After Time Challenge #1

For the PTI Time After Time challenge, I went back on my blog to some of my earliest
posts that were labeled "cards" (before I started making cards, I was primarily a scrapbooker.)

I found this post, dated four years ago, in August 2010, where I shared four cards that I made.
Truthfully, looking back, I don't love them, and definitely feel I've grown as a card maker
in the last four years -- thankfully! LOL!

So, anyway, I decided to remake some of these cards, starting with this one:

Okay, it's pretty cute! But quite different from what I create now.... not so much in style, per say.
I sill love using patterned paper & stitching on my cards.
But the dinosaurs were fussy cut from patterned paper (which isn't something I do very often anymore) and the sentiment is computer generated.... and I'm wondering how I cut out that nice speech bubble.... it could have been printed on the computer, too, and cut out by hand.
Or maybe I rounded the corners with a corner rounder....

Well, anyway, onto the remake....

I used a new American Crafts DIY 6x6 paper pad that I picked up a few days ago
at Hobby Lobby for my background, which I die cut using one of the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Border dies.
I stamped the two foxes onto card stock (soft stone & classic kraft) and paper-pieced them.
I die cut the flower using the little flower die from PTI's Flip Flop dies and added a Pretty Pink Posh 6mm Sparkling Clear sequin for a little sparkle.
The speech bubble was die cut using a Simon Says Stamp speech bubble die, which I made shorter
by diecutting it twice.

I have a card to share that I made using Lizzie Jones' Mock Mosaics technique, as well

I applied the embossing paste on my vintage cream card stock background using my hearts cover plate as a stencil.
I die cut my Feather Finery die from  vellum, heat embossed it in gold & added some dark chocolate ink.
I die cut the tag using Tag Sale #7 from Heidi Swapp patterned paper) and stamped my sentiment (from Fancy That) in navy.
A little bird (from Feather Finery) & some twine finish it off.

I applied the embossing paste on my vintage cream card stock background using my hexagon cover plate as a stencil.

A few enamel dots finish it off.

Stamp-a-faire 2014 Morning Timer Challenge #3

Stamp-a-faire 2014 Explore Ancient Rome Faux Frescoes #1

I have a card to share that I made using Lizzie Jones' Faux Frescoes technique.

I applied the translucent embossing paste on my white card stock background
as well as on the LL:Square die cut.
I stamped with my new Fancy That stamp set (both the image on the die cut & the sentiment.)
I watercoloured in the medallion using the new palette watercolour inks I got.

It's hard to capture the texture and shine on film...

Stamp-a-faire 2014 Morning Timer Challenge -- Sage

I'm sharing a card that Sage made for the Morning Timer Challenge.
I helped a little & we managed to get it done in 13 minutes and 15 seconds.

Isn't it adorable?
She used some patterned paper from the MIM Sprinkles & Sparkles set,
the Wet Paint die cut and the Cat's Meow stamp, which she water coloured.

She used this colour combo, but substituted harvest gold for limeade ice...

... and this sketch, which she rotated:

I'm also linking her card up to this week's Simon Says Stamp Summer Vacation Kid's Challenge.

Stamp-a-faire 2014 Morning Timer Challenge #1

I was pretty excited to wake up this morning and find it cloudy & misty with a chance of rain.
We were suppose to walk in the Corn & Apple Festival with our taekwondo club,
but with it being so cold and wet, we decided to opt out -- which left me with an open morning
to get started on the Papertrey Ink Stamp-a-faire challenges.

I started off with the Morning Timer Challenge and made this card in just over 16 min.

I used a new Webster Pages printed bag, my PTI woodgrain impression plate
and my die cut word and stamps from the MIM Country Fair kit.

I also used this colour combo...

... and this sketch:
