Cas(e) This Sketch #121

Today, I have a card to share that I made for
CAS(E) This Sketch #121 designed by Sam Simpson:

Here's my card:

CAS(E) This Sketch #121 Leigh Penner #cards

I'm really pleased with how this turned out!
I stamped on a panel of stamper's select white with Altenew's Painted Flowers stamp set.
Then, I layered a piece of vellum, diecut with PTI's Tag Sale #7 die.
I diecut a scrap of white cardstock with the same die, stamped the sentiment from
Altenew's Vintage Roses and then trimmed it down along the sides.

Monthly Moments: September

I recently caught up in my Monthly Moments album (yay!)
and thought I'd share my spreads with you here on my blog.

Here's September:

For my pockets page, I added four 3" square photos.

On this top journaling card, I trimmed some Crate Paper patterned paper to 3" square
and added a PTI Keep It Simple Frame die
that I stamped using PTI's Petite Places: School stamp set.

On this bottom one, I die cut a PTI Leaf Prints leaf from some Crate Paper patterned paper
and stamped over it with a sentiment from Reverse Confetti's Here's the Story stamp set.

On this page, I added a collage of photos that I created in Picasa.
I added my journaling, along with another piece of Crate Paper patterned paper
and a Monthly Moments: September die cut from PTI.

Reverse Confetti Spring Fling Blog Hop

Hi, 'Fetti Fans!
Spring is in the air and Reverse Confetti is celebrating with a
Spring Fling Blog Hop.

The hop started over on the Reverse Confetti blog and
you should have made it here from the incredibly talented Sarah Gough's blog
It would be worth your while to start at the beginning of the hop, so you don’t miss a thing.

When I think of spring, I think of Teacher Appreciation
and honour the people who work with my children.
I like to bring treats (i.e. Butter Crunch) to their teachers
when we go for parent-teacher conferences.

Here are the tags I made for the treats:

Reverse Confetti Spring Fling Blog Hop Leigh Penner @revereseconfetti #reverseconfetti #treatbags #tags

I diecut the Folded Tag Confetti Cuts from some white cardstock and
stamped on it in aqua mist ink, using Class Act.

Reverse Confetti Spring Fling Blog Hop Leigh Penner @revereseconfetti #reverseconfetti #treatbags #tags

I added the sentiment in onyx black and the A+ in pure poppy (also from Class Act.)

The tags open up and that's where my kids wrote notes to their teachers.

Short and sweet!
And some of them got a little "punny":

(for their art teacher)

For their music teacher.
So cute!

I hope you’ve enjoyed hopping with our Spring Fling Blog Hop today!

Now it’s time to hop on over to the wonderfully talented Jean Manis' blog

Fusion: Happy Days

Today, I'm playing along with the current Fusion Card Challenge:

I love those fun yellows and reds!
I decided to make my card using some Crate Paper patterned paper and
some Reverse Confetti goodies.

Fusion: Happy Days Leigh Penner @reverseconfetti #reverseconfetti #cards

On a piece of white linen cardstock, I stamped the "hello" from
the newly released Color Me Happy stamp set in pure poppy, berry sorbet,
summer sunrise, harvest gold and lemon tart.

A strip of patterned paper from Crate Paper's The Pier collection
and a trio of buttons & twine finish it off.

Papertrey Ink April Blog Hop

Well, it's the 25th of the month, so that means it's time for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop.
This month's challenge was an inspirational photo.

Isn't it pretty?
I was inspired by the navy tablecloth, the clear plates,
the flowers and the polka dots on the vase.
Here's my card:

Papertrey Ink April Blog Hop Leigh Penner #cards

I used enchanted evening cardstock as my base and stamped my sentiment
(from Graceful Greetings) in versa mark and heat embossed it in white.
I diecut some polka dot vellum with the KIS Frames and layered them together.
Over these, I stamped on my Brushed Blooms diecut in limeade ice,
sweet blush, hibiscus burst & raspberry fizz.
I trimmed the diecut down my hand and added a couple of buttons and twine.

Five for Friday

 What a busy week!
I can't believe it's already Friday!

1. I spend Monday & Tuesday afternoons at the Festival of the Arts
where Sage participated in the Speech Arts section and performed an English
and a French poem.

She did really well!
So well in fact that we got an email yesterday afternoon informing us that she
won an award for her Speech Arts performances. :)
(And Jonah is getting an award for his piano, too.)

2. Jonah left on Wednesday for Banff with his Jazz Choir.
I think he was getting nervous, as he seemed to need a bit of reassurance
on Tuesday evening while we were packing.

He took this photo with the iPod so he'd have a photo of us to take along.
I'm sure he'll have a great time.

We saw him off on the bus Wednesday evening.

He contacted us with FaceTime yesterday and it seems like he's having a good time.
They went to the Calgary Zoo in the morning and he said he took lots of pictures
(like mother, like son!)

3. I've been in spring cleaning mode lately....
On Saturday, I cleaned up our basement storage area/pantry
and tackled Cameron's side, where previously, you couldn't even walk.
On Tuesday, Sage & I went through her clothes & removed anything that didn't fit anymore.
Next on my list: my closet.
I'm debating between having a garage sale (which the kids want)
and giving everything away to the thrift store.

4. Remember my Monthly Moments album?
Yeah, long time no see.
I got stalled on it in September and have been letting the months pile up.
Terrible, I know.
Well, this week, I was determined to get caught up.
And guess what?
I did it.
I finished spreads from September 2014 to March 2015.
Yay!
They're very CAS, but they tell the story of the pictures, which is the point.
I didn't get around to taking photos yesterday of the spreads,
but rest assured, I will post them soon.

5. I have a card to share for the latest Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Bouquet:

I love the colours of the flowers in this photo, so stamped them with
my SSS Flowers on my Mind stamp set.

Five for Friday Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge Leigh Penner #cards

I stamped the flowers along the side  of a panel of stamper's select white cardstock.
Then, I stamped the leaves and sentiment (PTI's Sentiment Splits) on a second panel.
I stamped the flowers on coordinating diecuts and adhered them to my card.

I'm also linking this up to this week's
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Clean & Simple.

Cas(e) this sketch #120

Today, I have a card to share that I made for
CAS(E) This Sketch #120 designed by Gayatri Murali:

I love the bird image on the sketch and the fun splatter behind him,
so I decided to copy this for my card.

CAS(E) This Sketch #120 Leigh Penner #cards

To create my background, I pressed some summer sunrise ink onto my acrylic block.
spritzed it with water and pressed my yardstick onto it.
Once it was dry, I added the diecut leaves from vellum and bird from berry sorbet
and aqua mist cardstock (both dies are from PTI's Songbirds.)
Then I stamped the sentiment in versafine onyx black (also from Songbirds).

I'm also linking this up to this week's
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Clean & Simple.

Visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see the rest of the DT's takes on the sketch
and to play along, if you'd like.
You have until Thursday, April 30th to link up your card.

Oh, and before you go, I also have a fun card up on the
Reverse Confetti Blog today for the Confetti Camera series: Everything Old is New Again!
I'd love for you to check it out!

Guest designing for Top Dog Dies

I was so excited be asked to guest design for Top Dog Dies today!
I am being featured on Top Dog Dies blog & wanted to share my projects here, too.

I was sent the adorable Onesie Vest Die Set to play with.
Now, while this super cute set coordinates perfectly with the Onesie Die to make
adorable baby cards, I thought it would be fun to use the Onesie Vest Die Set
to create masculine cards for "older" boys. ;)

For my first card, I diecut the vest from a fun piece of My Mind's Eye patterned paper.

Guest Designing for Top Dog Dies Leigh Penner #cards #topdogdies

I flipped the patterned paper over to diecut the bowties and buttons --
I love it when the back of the patterned paper coordinates like that!
I stitched on the buttons with some black thread and stamped the sentiment
(from Papertrey Ink's Think Big Favourites #5 stamp set) along the side.
This card would work for a wedding, engagement, graduation or promotion -- I love it!

Guest Designing for Top Dog Dies Leigh Penner #cards #topdogdies

Next, I used some patterned paper (again, from My Mind's Eye) to create a fun Father's Day Card.

Guest Designing for Top Dog Dies Leigh Penner #cards #topdogdies

Once again, there was a fabulous coordinating pattern on the back, so I diecut the bowtie from that.
I diecut the buttons and pocket (so cute!) from some Papertrey Ink Fine Linen cardstock
and matted my card on that as well.
My sentiment was computer generated.

Guest Designing for Top Dog Dies Leigh Penner #cards #topdogdies

I sewed the buttons on with some rustic cream button twine from Papertrey Ink.

And lastly, I had some fun with the bowtie and buttons from the set...

Guest Designing for Top Dog Dies Leigh Penner #cards #topdogdies

If you know me, you know that I love Doctor Who.
And when I see a bowtie, I can't help but think of the 11th Doctor and
his habit of saying: "Bowties are cool."
So, I created this card, using some white linen cardstock as my background.
I added a couple of strips of Echo Park patterned paper for my suspenders and diecut
the bowtie from some Papertrey Ink Scarlet Jewel cardstock.
The buttons were also diecut from the white linen cardstock.

Guest Designing for Top Dog Dies Leigh Penner #cards #topdogdies

The sentiment was stamped on the soft stone cardstock background
using Reverse Confetti's Let's Chill stamp set.
This card is going to be given to my son, Jonah, who leaves tonight for his jazz choir trip
to Banff -- I'm so proud of him for all the hard work he's done to go on the trip!
And, he is pretty darn cool, too. ;)

Bridal Shower Cards

As I mentioned in this post, I'm helping plan a large bridal shower at my church.
I shared the invitations for the brides that I made here and today,
I'm sharing the cards that the brides will receive with their gifts.

Bridal Shower Cards Leigh Penner #cards

As I did with the invitations I made, I computer generated the sentiment
(using Milkshake and Consolas as fonts) and printed them out onto stamper's select white cardstock.

I stamped the umbrellas using a Pink Paislee stamp set and added the umbrella diecuts
(using the coordinating die) in sweet blush, aqua mist and berry sorbet.

To finish off the cards, I stamped three hearts in the same colours as the cardstock.

The Card Concept #33

Today, I have a card to share that I made for The Card Concept #33:

I was inspired by those fabulous striped walls!
My card is Clean & Layered.

The Card Concept #33 Leigh Penner

I used some new supplies on this card:
the sentiment and curved dies are PTI's Sentiment Splits.
The flowers are from Simon Says Stamp Flowers on my Mind.

The Card Concept #33 Leigh Penner

I stamped the stripes with a SSS Wide Stripe stamp in Delicata Silver ink,
so it has this fabulous shimmer.
