Retrosketches #182

I normally try not to post twice in one day if I can help it,
but Sage and I are leaving after supper for a Mother/Daughter retreat at the Winkler Bible Camp.
The weather is gorgeous and we're looking forward to having a fabulous time together!

Anyway, since I'll be gone tomorrow, I thought I'd post my card,
so I can link it up to Retrosketches #182:

Isn't it a sweet sketch?

I was asked to make five birthday and one anniversary card
for our local nursing home (our church hosts the September birthdays),
so I used my MISTI to quickly create six cards
(five birthday and one anniversary)
using this sketch, my WPlus9 Watercolour Anemones stamp set
and my Zig Clean Colour Brush Markers.

So, I made five of these:

I stamped my sentiment with SSS's Big Scripty Sentiments.

And then I made one of these:

I coloured the markers onto the stamp and then spritzed it with water
before stamping.
This sentiment is from SSS's Congratulations stamp set.

SFYTT #9 & RS#100

Well, it's the first of the month, which means that
there is a new Sketch for You to Try up on the Reverse Confetti blog today!

And here's the card I made with the sketch:

I fell in love with this sheet of Crate Paper patterned paper and thought it would be lovely
to use to make a Valentine's Day card for one of my boys....

I added a tag that I cut using the largest Reverse Confetti Tag Me die, which I stamped
& heat embossed in aqua using a sentiment from  Lots to Say (I love this set -- such gorgeous fonts!)
& from Crushin'.
I die cut the hearts from some of the leftover patterned paper
using the heart dies from Love Note.
Then I added some twine and a button to finish it off.

Also,  Reverse Confetti is sponsoring the Retro Sketches #100
and some of the RC DT are playing along.

I decided to use my Peacock Pretties stamp set & Love Note die.

I started by stamping my feathers on the base and then stamped them on the Love Note die cut.
I stamped my sentiment from Lots to Say.
I added some Pretty Pink Posh Light Pink Twine & a Pretty Pink Posh button.
Then, I adhered this to my card using dimensional adhesive.

Five for Friday

1. Things I'm looking forward to....

spring to arrive (oh, please come!)
the snow to go away (I'm totally done with it!)
Sage's assembly this afternoon (she's playing corn -- I'm sure she's going to nail it!)
spring break (it starts officially at 3:50 today!)
scrapbooking with my friends tonight at my at my LSS

2. Festival season has begun. I've been volunteering as chairperson for a few sessions, including Wednesday's vocal session where Sage and Jonah sang with their respective choirs. So fun to see them perform!

I also got to go along to Brandon last week for their Jazz Festival. Austin's Jazz Choir performed three songs.

(Austin is in the centre of the back row.)
I was asked to go on stage during the second and third songs to hold the music sheets for the pianist, so I was able to take this cool shot.

3. I made another layout for this week's Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink: Inked Backgrounds. I found these photos in my photo box that I took two Easters ago...

I used some Crate (off-white background) and My Mind's Eye (diagonal stripes, photo frame) patterned paper. I stamped some rustic white cardstock with my new Waltzingmouse Stamp and then inked over it with some CTMH Cranberry ink.

For my title, I used my new Headlines Alphabets stamps from PTI, as well as some MME enamel dots and a Pink Paislee arrow that I inked with PTI Harvest Gold ink. I also used a PTI Basic Labels stamp for the date.

4. I thought I'd play along with the 10 Minute Craft Dash #14.

Or maybe I should say, attempted to play along. I picked out my supplies and decided to use Retrosketches #54:

So, here's the card I made... using Echo Park patterned paper, PTI cardstock (classic kraft, berry sorbet), my PTI tag sale #5 die, PTI classic kraft button twine and a SU! build-a-brad. I stamped the sentiment with a Simon Says stamp in PTI Ripe Avocado ink.

And here's my time....

So, yeah, epic fail.

5. But determined to succeed, I tried again. I used most of the same supplies, but used a PTI Fabulous Frames die and some PTI buttons instead.

Here's what I ended up with...

And here's my time...

Success!

I'm always amazed at how quickly 10 minutes go by!

I'm also linking up these two cards for this week's Simon Says Stamp Challenge, which is to make a spring/easter card.

And another Mother's Day card...

Hi there, I'm just popping in quickly this morning to post another Mother's Day card that I made using another one of Nichole's colour combinations for this week's Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink.

I also used the most recent sketch at Retro Sketches.

Here's my card:

I used Papertrey Ink cardstock (rustic cream, sweet blush, canyon clay, melon berry, new leaf), buttons, twine, stamps (flower fusion #3, pretty peonies) and dies (heart border,  flower fusion #3, turning a new leaf). For the yellow stamped circles, I stamped them and then covered them with Glossy Accents.

Well, we're off to our taekwondo promotion test this morning.... Jonah's testing for his red stripe.
