MIM #25 -- attempt #1

*I'm editing this post to add that I think this is the ugliest card that I ever made! I wasn't happy with it when I was done and I only posted it in the hopes that I would win that week's MIM (which, obviously is a random draw! LOL!

I'm linking up this card for my friend, Suzanne's Ugliest Card Blog Hop -- such a fun idea for April Fools!

Here's my first attempt at this week's Make it Monday at Papertrey Ink: Decreasing Apertures.

I had never tried this technique before and found it quite fun.

It's a busy weekend birthday-wise for us this weekend, so I've made a few birthday cards. Here's the first one, which I will be giving to my taekwondo instructor today. (I meant to give it to her last night at our colour belt promotion test, but I forgot-- that seems to happen to me a lot. I love making cards but forget to hand them out!)

I used PTI cardstock (stamper's select white), stamps (text style I, Tranquility Trinity & Communique Sentiments) & die (mat stack #5). I also used a Tim Holtz Alterations die, Prima Flowers, Fancy Pants and My Mind's Eye patterned paper and My Mind's Eye brads.

Thanks for looking!

  3. Well, I disagree that this card is uglier than mine--but I will say that this is not my most favorite of your cards. I can totally relate to wanting to post just to have a chance to win--I mean, once you have invested the time and the supplies, you gotta post, right?

  6. This hop is like walking down memory lane Leigh. I see I left a comment the first time you posted. Still not ugly but I will say that both of our styles have changed over the last year and a half! LOL

  8. Hmmm, not sure what's going on here, seems a bit busy that's all. Otherwise, the card might be pretty good. Those brads in the flowers do look like eyes though.

  9. LOL, random draw! Good one.

This isn't really ugly, but I think the fighting focal points are problematic. Live and learn!

  10. Leigh it's not so bad! I think the flowers are what throw me off, but there are some very signature Leigh elements on this card- the pp, and the diecutting, especially! Thanks for linking up in the hop!
