I was catching up on my favourite blogs yesterday and noticed that the Crate Paper blog had a new challenge up: a patterned paper challenge. I thought this would be a great chance to try out an idea I've been thinking about lately -- herringbone, supersized.
What do you think?
I used Crate Paper patterned paper and decorative brad. I also used Papertrey Ink felt & dies (notched flower, tag sale #5, modern uppercase alphabet). The letter stamps are Studio Calico. I used some fabric to make one of my flower diecuts for this week's Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink: Fabric Die Cuts.
Here's a close-up of my journaling & flower:
And, when I was done, I decided to get creative with my scraps and make a thank you card, again for this week's Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink: Fabric Die Cuts.
In addition to the Crate Paper patterned paper and decorative brad, I used Papertrey Ink cardstock (rustic white), stamps (sweet strawberry sentiments) and dies (tag sale #5, beautiful blooms II #1).
Thanks for looking!
Love the layout! And the patterns look so wonderful with the colors in Sage's dress and the green leaves behind her!
ReplyDeleteWow - love this herringbone technique. Looks like it took a lot of configuring, but well worth your effort Leigh. Is there a tutorial somewhere for that herringbone design?
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! I love your layout!! Love, love, love!! I will have to try out that herringbone technique. Love the stitching too.
ReplyDeleteLove this super sized herringbone. How on earth did you do it? You need to tell us followers!
ReplyDeleteAwesome card and layout. It really does look time consuming and detailed. Do you have any tips to make all the papers line up so neatly?
ReplyDeleteSO SO gorgeous, Leigh! I HAVE to try this!
ReplyDeleteLeigh, these are both gorgeous!!!! Love the herringbone and fabric die cuts!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is really beautiful. I recently found your blog and I love how you use so many stamps and dies from PTI in you layouts. It gives me a lot of inspiration as a new scrapbooker :). I too wonder if there is a tutorial on how to create this stunning background. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLooks great, not only the entire layout but the herringbone background as well. Thanks for the heads up and inspiration about Crate's challenge!
ReplyDeleteStunning layout and card, Leigh. I love how the background is artwork in itself, and yet doesn't distract the eye from your photos! Kudos to you!
ReplyDeleteThe card is so good! I am not a herringbone fan usually, but This oversize works for my eye.
ReplyDeleteLeigh I love the layout and the card. Are the papercuts squares? Alos where is the tag sale #5 used? Thanks
