I was very intrigued by Melis` patchwork technique for this week`s Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink, especially when she pointed out that in cutting out four of each diecut from patterned paper, she could make four patchwork diecuts.
I thought this seemed like a great technique to try for making some tags. So, I took some Crate Paper patterned paper and ran four sheets of it through my Big Shot with my Tag Sale 7 die, and then assembled them to make four tags, which I stitched together.
I embellished the first two tags with my PTI Winter Snowglobe stamp set and dies. I had fun paper-piecing the little snowman and tree!
Even though I thought I was done making Christmas cards for the year, I decided to make one more.... It`s for one of the little girls who trains with us at taekwondo. She`d asked me if I would make her a Christmas card, because I "make the bestest cards." How could I say no to that? ;)
I decided to use one of the patchwork tags to make her a shaker card, again using my PTI Winter Snow Globe set. I tied the ribbon and mounted the tag on another piece of Crate Paper patterned paper and matted that with some PTI cardstock (new leaf).
Here's a close up of the little paper-piece shaker Santa.
Then, I got the idea to diecut a snowflake from the fourth patchwork tag and back it with a stamped PTI Snowflake Medley stamp. I added a sentiment from Fillable Frames 9.
Of course, this left me with a patchwork snowflake diecut, which seemed a shame to let go to waste, so I mounted it on another Tag Sale 7 diecut and added a to/from sentiment from PTI`s Holiday Tags 2012 set. This one is going to my secret Santa.
Thanks for looking!
