It's been a sad week here for our family and our town.
On Wednesday, a classmate of Austin's was struck by a semi while crossing the street.
She died after being transfered to the Children's hospital in Winnipeg.
She was such a beautiful girl-- always so cheerful and full of life!
Austin had invited her to one of his birthday parties when he was a little younger and
out of all the girls in his class (he's had the same class since kindergarten),
he was closest to her and her best friend.
Sigh....
So, the funeral is tomorrow. And I made a sympathy card. A hard thing to do for a 14 year old....
Apparently, her favourite colour is blue.
However, when I think of her, I picture yellow and pink.
So here's the card I made.
I embossed the background with my PTI wood grain impression plate.
I used a PTI sentiment and my Wplus9 Fresh Cut Florals stamps and dies.
I'm linking this up to this week's Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Emboss it!
Thanks for looking!

I'm so sorry to hear that, Leigh! My prayers are to her family and yours. Austin must be devastated.
ReplyDeleteWhile this card is absolutely gorgeous...
ReplyDeleteit's also perfect for such a tragic occasion...
I know her parents will treasure this and the love it brings.
Prayers to her family...
to yours...
and your town as it deals with this.
We went through a similar situation when the girls were in pre-k...
a classmate of their's ran into the street and was hit by a truck...
the hardest conversation I've ever had trying to explain to a 5 year old why their friend won't be back in class again...
all she could say was "but we just played on the playground together".
It was right before spring break and she thought he would return after break...
it was heartbreaking.
Hugs to you all!
I'm so sorry, Leigh. It is such an awful incident. I can't imagine what your family, her family and your town would be going through. I am so sorry for you all. Hugs
ReplyDeleteMay her soul rest in peace. Amen.
Oh my. What a horrible thing for everyone to have to deal with. I love your gorgeous card and I know it will be so appreciated. I'm thinking and praying for you all at this tough time.
ReplyDeleteHow impossibly difficult to honor the life of a 14-year old but I think you have done it beautifully. Such beautiful soft and gentle colors.
ReplyDeleteOh man is that tough news, Leigh. Hope time helps. You've expressed yourself through your card making talents beautifully and I'm certain the family will appreciate that.
ReplyDeleteNote: you used the colors I've imagined using if I can get those blooms - pinks and yellows and oranges.
Oh how tragic! I've been mostly away from the computer for the last couple weeks and I'm just catching up on all I missed. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. My heart aches for your family (especially Austin), Taylor's family, and the countless others who I'm sure are devastated by such a tragedy. What a soft, lovely sympathy card. Praying for peace and healing for all of you!
