Ink It Up with Heidi Shafer -- Altenew's Floral Shadow

Today, I've joined again with
Heidi Shafer of Mapleberry Musings for Ink It Up.

Ink it Up is a challenge where, on the second and fourth Wednesday
of each month, Heidi and I share cards that we've made with new stamp sets
that we haven't used yet.

Today, I'm sharing two cards that I made using my

For my first card, I used a technique using my Zigs,
where I colour directly onto my stamp with my marker and then
spritz it a couple times with water before stamping it onto my watercolour background.

I stamped the sentiment (also from Floral Shadow) in versafine black
and added some sequins and a black cardstock border.

I felt the card was missing something, so I stamped some floral centres in black
using PTI's Bloomers set.

I also made this card, stamping the images from Floral Shadow in
orange zest, sweet blush and scarlet jewel onto watercolour paper.
I added a little more ink mixed with my water brush and
coloured over the images, to lend more of a watercolour effect.

I stamped the sentiments (from Wplus9 Happy Wishes stamp set)
directly onto the background in versafine onyx black,
as well as onto a strip of black cardstock, which I heat embossed in seafoam.

A few rainstones finish it off.

Don't forget to hop over to Heidi's blog to see what
she created for this Ink It Up.

Thanks for looking!

  1. These are both lovely and, with the same set and same general layout, have entirely different looks. I love the soft pinks and greens with the sprinkling of sequins. Then the fall tones on the next are beautiful - LOVE the bit of soft pink.

  2. Bold and soft! It's so cool how different colors change the whole look of a card. Love your florals!

  3. Gorgeous, both, Leigh! Kim's right: the change in colours makes for two distinctly different looks. The pops of black on the first add wonderful impact; the autumn palette of the second...swooning! You and Altenew...perfect match! Off to Heidi's place...

  9. Very beautiful cards Leigh ! I especially like the first one and the technique you used. I've never tried yet but I think this week end I will do ! I love the black center of the flower, you're right, it pops up the flowers ! The colors you used for the second one are matching so well together ! Thanks for sharing.
