Six for me & one for Sage

*THIS IS MY SECOND POST FOR TODAY. SCROLL DOWN OR CLICK HERE TO SEE MY PTI AUGUST BLOG HOP PROJECTS. THANKS!*

Sage & I played along with the PTI Stamp-A-Faire Challenges yesterday & here's what we made.....

Every card that we made was for the Breakfast Bake & Take, where we were challenged to choose one sketch and one colour combo.

I also wanted to try my hand at the Tea Staining Technique, so for my first card, I dyed some unbleached cotton with some tea Friday night. In the morning, I wrung it out and tossed it in the dryer. Then I diecut it using my Beautiful Blooms II #1 dies and stamped on it with my BB:Text Style I.

I used this colour combo...

 And this sketch...

Here's my card...

I also used my Embroidered Blooms stamp set to stamp the leaves and Think Big Favourites #12 for the sentiment. I layered onto some flowers cut from Terracotta felt and some summer sunrise buttons. The twine was dyed with Betsy's kool aid staining technique.

I had fun with Betsy's technique to stain with kool aid and ended up staining some felt, twine, water colour paper and unbleached cotton. The next four cards use items that I stained with kool aid.

For my second card, I used this colour combo...

And this sketch....

For the stripes on the side of the card, I decided to use some banners,  two of which are cut from my kool-aid dyed watercolour paper (the berry sorbet and melon berry colours. ) The third is some harvest gold cardstock. I used my LL:oval dies & a sentiment from Communique Sentiments for my tag. The flowers were diecut using my Wplus9 Fresh Cut Florals dies and the kool aid dyed cotton fabric. The leaves are some ocean tides felt. The little pearls I added are Doodlebug.

For my third card, I used this colour combo (but I switched out the simply chartreuse for new leaf, since that's the colour I achieved when I dyed my felt)....

And here's the sketch I used (which I rotated 90˚ to the left)....
I used some Crate Paper for my background. I added some flowers (diecut using a Beautiful Blooms II #2 die, a Lovely Layers die and a Turning a New Leaf die and my kool aid dyed felt). The twine was also dyed in kool aid (I love this!) The sentiment is from Embroidered Blooms. Some buttons & stitching finish it off.

For my fourth card, I used this colour combo...

And this sketch...

I used some Crate Paper patterned paper and slide frame. I diecut some of my kool aid dyed watercolour paper with my double-ended banner die and stamped a sentiment from Bountiful Banners. The feather is from Happy Trails. I stamped it in versamark and heat embossed it with two colours of Zing! embossing powder.

For my fifth card, I used this colour combo (again!)...

And this sketch...

I used some Crate Paper for my background. I stamped my sentiment (from Beautiful Blessings) onto a Half & Half diecut and added some diecut flowers from my kool aid dyed cotton, some ocean tides felt, some kool aid dyed twine & some My Mind's Eye enamel dots.

And the sixth card that I made was with this colour combo (again!)...

And this sketch...

I used a strip of Crate Paper patterned paper left over from my fourth card. I stitched it in place and then instead of a circle, I added a Memory Box diecut speech bubble. On this I stamped using my Scent-imentals stamp set and made it a scratch & sniff card for the Whipping Up Scent-sational Cards Challenge.

And saving the best for last, here's Sage's card. She used this colour combo...

And this sketch...

She was inspired by the inspiration photo (her words -- so cute!) to create a woodgrain striped background. She paper-pieced her new little squirrel and loves how he turned out-- we think he looks like he's dressed up for Halloween!

Isn't her card adorable? I love it! We're linking it up to the Simon Says Stamp Kids' Summer Vacation Challenge, too.

Thanks for looking!

  8. Wow, you obviously didn't struggle with the color combos like I did. I love your Kool-aid dyed banners -just perfect! Love your sweet tea-dyed flower too. :) Tell Sage her card is adorable. I wouldn't have thought to do stacked colors with the woodgrain. It looks pretty cool like that!

I opened up your blog page first thing in the morning today on my phone. Since my phone doesn't allow comments, I had to wait to leave comments on your blog.

Thank God for that. My phone totally didn't do justice to the awesomeness I see now.

I love the tea-stained flower and the subtle text background on it.
Also the multicolored embroidered leaf stamp looks awesome

Love the softness of the second card. The pearls add so much finesse to an already beautiful card.

Love the BG on the third card, and how the felt embellishments coordinate with it!

Love the fun and graphic PP on the 4th card, and how you have toned it down with the frame and the feather.

I am not a big fan of BIG polka dots, but somehow you have pulled it together too!

The last one is my favorite though. I love the colors and the ample white space, and your stitching as always! Perfect..

I would keep rambling if you'd allow :P

Finally, such a sweet card by Sage. Love the fact that she can imagine a polka-dotted squirrel :D and her background stamping has come out well. Well done, Sage~

  18. Not that I'm surprised but you two rocked SAF. Love all your cards. My fave inspiration is your (Sage's) two-toned label on the coffee card. I'm thinkin' that is a bit trendy and adds so much interest.
