I've had so much fun playing along with Anna's CASometry Challenge 2. Make 5.
where she challenged us to choose one stamp set and make five cards using it.
I have the habit of pulling out a stamp set, making one card using it
and started on another card with another stamp set.
This challenge encouraged me to make several cards at once
while I had my stamp set out.
(It also helped keep this stamp set at the forefront of my mind
when choosing which set I wanted to use!)
Anyway, as I was stamping a card for the final stage of the challenge,
I decided to make four cards using it.
Because I've struggled a little with coming up with fresh
colour combos in which to stamp the birds,
I took my inspiration from three of the April Release Inspiration Cards
(By the way, I was thinking that I was on the ball with making
my final card for the challenge ahead of time, but I didn't realize
that the Final Stage of Anna's Challenge had a secret aspect.
So that's why I'm sharing these cards now.)
So, what I did was diecut several branches and birds (a few of each type)
and then stamped them using my MISTI, which allowed the process
to go faster, as once I had it set up on my MISTI, I could stamp several birds
in different colours at once.
For my first card, I used this colour combo:
Here's my card:
I stamped the branches in classic kraft for each of my cards.
I stamped the blooms in mint julep and the leaves in green parakeet.
The birds were stamped in aqua mist, mint julep and Altenew's Caribbean Blue,
which I substituted for Winter Wisteria.
I stamped the sentiment (from PTI's Walk By Faith) in Caribbean Blue.
For the border, I ran a piece of Mint Julep cardstock through my
diecutting machine with my woodgrain impression plate.
Next, I used this colour combo:
I used all of the colours, but substituted Altenew's Persian Blue for Amethyst Allure.
I diecut my sweet blush cardstock using my Mama Elephant Femme Frame dies.
I stamped the sentiment (from Winter Woods) in Versafine Onyx Black.
And lastly, I chose this colour combo:
I decided to make two cards with the elements I stamped
with this colour combo, again substituting the Persian Blue for
Amethyst Allure and Altenew's Sapphire for Royal Velvet.
On this one, I ran a piece of ripe avocado cardstock through my diecutting machine
using my Winter Woods cover plate, but didn't love how it turned out.
Rather than take a new piece of cardstock, I just ran it through again
using my woodgrain impression plate.
I ended up with a piece of cardstock that had a cool texture!
The sentiment is from Spring Woods, which I stamped in Sapphire.
And here, I used a piece a Basic Grey patterned paper along the side.
Thanks for looking!
