Project 366, week 26
Here are my photos of the day from the last week:
Tuesday, June 24th: Sage buckled her friends, Dora the Explorer and Kitty the Carla, into the middle seat of our van.
Wednesday, June 25th: Jonah, at his last baseball game of the season.
Thursday, June 26th: Austin and his teacher on the second last day of school.
Friday, June 27th: My kids, plus Austin's best friend, Soren, on the last day of school. (I tried to get them all in the air-- very hard to orchestrate!)
Saturday, June 28th: Starting off the holidays right-- watching Saturday morning cartoons.
Sunday, June 29th: Celebrating my mom's birthday.
Monday, June 30th: Our first official trip to the beach this summer.
Thanks for looking & happy Canada Day!!
Ooops
"No, why?"
"Because it's her birthday."
Ooops! I can't believe I forgot my mom's birthday!! I know with everything being so busy lately (school ending, etc.). But still.
It was okay, though, because I'd tried calling her a few times this week and left messages. So when she called me back on Friday, I said: "Well, I was wondering what you had planned for your birthday tomorrow..." ;)
So, we drove to Winnipeg yesterday & took her out for supper to Montana's. We'd also stopped at Safeway to get her a birthday cake-- yum! I love Safeway birthday cakes!!-- but she was a bit of a spoil-sport and refused to wear the moose antler helmet and have the staff sing to her. Oh well...
Here's the card I made for her:
I used Bazzill cardstock, My Mind's Eye and Rhonna Farrer patterned paper, Prima Flowers, an Autumn Leaves stamp and MOD buttons.

3 miles
Okay, not a full out sprint, more like a slow jog, but still.
Three. Miles.
In one stretch. No walking in between.
This is the furthest I've ever run without walking in between.
Feels great!

Wind-ups
Our Sunday school programs had their wind-up on Sunday.
Two days before that, we had our volunteer appreciation for our SS volunteers. We went to the Meadows in Winkler to play human foos-ball, lawn bowling, mini-golf and go-carting. And, I forgot my camera. I couldn't believe it. I went with some friends and realized just as we were leaving Morden that I'd forgotten it. They offered to turn around, but I thought, it'll be fine. And it was. It was nice to just enjoy myself without the pressure of taking the perfect shot.
Austin's baseball team was suppose to have a wind-up, but it got cancelled. This was disappointing and it fit with the rest of the season, but I won't get into that here...
Jonah's last baseball game was on Wednesday. He had a great season, with a great coach (Coach Lee) and loved that he got his first medal. :) Their wind-up was last night, with hotdogs and slushees at the ball diamonds.
Jonah's last day of kindergarten was yesterday. I really enjoyed his teacher, Mme. Routhier, who was such a sweetheart. The good news is that she'll be teaching both of my boys next year with the school's L.E.A.P.F.R.O.G. program.
Austin's last day of grade three was today. His teacher, Mme Stein (another gem!), handed out candy awards to the students. Austin won the Almond Joy award, because he was the happiest student in the class and always had a smile on his face.
(This was a little shocking to hear, since he can be quite the complainer at home. But, I'm glad that he's so happy at school.)
So now, summer begins...

Project 366, week 25
Tuesday, June 17th: Sage loves walking around my garden and asking: "What's this flower called?" So we decided to take pictures of all of the flowers in my garden and make a mini-book with their names. This is a columbine (one of my favourites!)
Wednesday, June 18th: My wonderful friend, Val, won a pedicure for her and a friend at our women's retreat this past winter and invited me to go with her to get our feet done. Such pampering. And free flip-flops, too! ;)
Thursday, June 19th: We had our garage sale. Finally. We'd tried twice before, but it had rained. So I set Jonah and Sage up with a table to sell cookies and iced tea and told them they could keep the money they earned.
I was so impressed with all of the work they did. Especially Sage. She was such a great helper.
Friday, June 20th: We went to Floral Scents in town to pick up Webkinz for Jonah and Sage. They bought them with the money they'd been saving from their allowance and the money they made on Thursday at our garage sale. I'm so proud of them.
Jonah picked out a rhino and named him Rhiny the Rhino.
When Sage heard this, she said: "I'm going to name mine Kitty the Carla."
I said: "I think you mean Carla the Kitty."
Sage: "No, I mean Kitty the Carla."
My mom was with us and heard Sage, so she said: "You mean Carla the Kitty."
Sage: "No, I mean Kitty the Carla!!"
So, Kitty the Carla it is. :)
Saturday, June 21st: After supper, at the park.
Sunday, June 22nd: At the park again, for our Sunday School wind-up. Love the expression on Austin's face and the two kids in the background (they'd been tossing around water balloons.)
Monday, June 23rd: Jonah, up to bat.
Thanks for looking!

June online crop...
Here are the layouts that I've added to the gallery so far for the crop:
This is my two for one layout-- two challenge for the price of one!
The challenges are to get edgy: use scalloped scissors on a page and a little off the side, please: to have an embellishment come off the side of your layout.
I posted this layout for Marcy's challenge to use song lyrics on your page...
and this one, for the off the grid challenge.
This one is for the Ad inspiration challenge, where I made this layout based on a Fancy Pants ad in the June CK.
Hopefully I can add to this tomorrow. ;)
Thanks for looking!

Project 366, week 24
Tuesday, June 10th: Sage had fallen asleep on the couch in the afternoon (a very bad habit she's gotten into this past week-- then she's up until 10pm!) and I went to take her picture. Then Jonah suggested that I take his picture. Well, I won't turn down that offer!
Wednesday, June 11th: My friend, Lorie (a.k.a. Austin's best friend's mom) & I went to Winnipeg to go along with the boys on their field trip to the Manitoba Museum. We did a little shopping before lunch and stopped to eat at Joey's, where Lorie ordered these Californian Sushi Tacos.
Thursday, June 12th: Jonah's class went on a field trip to Dairy Queen. (I know, I am a total field trip junkie! ) They got a tour of the back of the restaurant and got to make their own ice cream cones. :)
Friday, June 13th: Two of my darlings, hanging out on the couch in the Hong Kong t-shirts my mom gave them.
Saturday, June 14th: We went to Salem to have supper with Cam's family. This is my SIL and her husband. We were celebrating Father's Day and their son's graduation from high school.
Sunday, June 15th: The Father's Day photo I got of my four favourite people. :)
Monday, June 16th: No school for the kids and it was nice out, so we headed to the park. This is Jonah riding on one of the bike trails.
Thanks for looking!

Random stuff...
We bought a new van last weekend. Well, it's a used van, but it's 7 years newer than our old one, so I'm pretty excited. It's an extended van, so more storage space and it has a CD player-- I'm so happy about that! :) We don't have it yet, but hope to pick it up this week, once everything goes through with the bank.
We had hoped to have our garage sale this week, but it rained. Again. So we're planning on next Thursday. So far, the forecast is sunny and 23. I hope it doesn't change.
It's Father's Day today. Cam picked up a few things for himself last night at Canadian Tire, after we'd had supper with his family. We took him to see Kung Fu Panda this afternoon at the theatre. A big splurge that he griped a little about, but I think he liked it. I know I did.
Father's Day always brings some mixed emotions. It's good to focus on Cameron & his dad, but I'm also reminded that my dad is gone. I can't believe it's been eight years. I still miss him a lot.
We're almost done with ROX for the summer. This morning we had our Coaches' Sunday, where the kids hang out with their coaches (small group leaders). Next Sunday is our Wind-up, which should be good. We always follow it up with a picnic at the park and games for the kids.
I made this earlier this spring to post in our ROX area:
It's two 16"x20" canvases that I painted with our memory verse for our last unit (Matthew 5:16). I was inspired by (& basically copied) this piece of patterned paper from Scenic Route. I'm going to hang it somewhere in our home.
Well, I should go and work on supper. I'm making Tony Roma's ribs (well, pork buttons), baked potatoes, grilled veggies and a homemade ice cream cake for dessert.

Project 366, week 23
Tuesday, June 3rd: We picked up some books at the library after school.
Wednesday, June 4th: Another baseball picture. It's Jonah and his team, lined up, waiting for their turn to bat.
Thursday, June 5th: Sage, in girlie heaven, getting her hair cut (we've decided against growing out the bangs for now) and styled.
Friday, June 6th: Austin bought a reptile magnet thing to paint, so we had a painting session at the dining room table. I love that you can print out colouring pages online. :)
Saturday, June 7th: Taken at the beach after doing a bit of fishing.
Sunday, June 8th: Jonah and Sage cruising at the Teddy Bear Picnic.
Monday, June 9th: Sage, goofing around with her dad (who looks a little tired in this picture.)
Thanks for looking and for your kind comments!

The scarlet macaw kite
Because it has wind restrictions (can't be too windy, has to be windy enough...), we've been waiting to take it out to fly. Last Friday seemed ideal.
Until we arrived at the school playground. Then the wind died down almost completely.
Undaunted, the kids had fun running back & forth across the playground, trying to get it up in the air (& keep it there.) :)
Finally, after being tired from running, Austin decided to use his bike in the effort.
So fun how such a little thing can bring so much pleasure!

Rainy Friday
I'm so glad that I mowed my lawn last night.
Seems like a good day for scrapbooking. The house is clean and laundry's put away from yesterday, so it'll be guilt-free. ;)
Here are a few more layouts that I made with the June kit from MSS and some extras from my stash:
And Sage has become quite the little card maker. We made this together, using one of the scalloped edges from the Pink Paislee patterned paper to use as a person's head.
Isn't it cute? ;)

Project 366, week 22
I couldn't find any pictures that I'd taken last Thursday. I thought, do I upload a picture from Friday? What should I do?
Figuring that uploading a photo from another day and lying about when I took it would be just wrong, I went looking again through my folders of photos, trying to figure out why I didn't take any photos on Thursday.
Well, apparently, I did.
I took over 100 photos. Thursday was Jonah's field trip to the miniature farm in Manitou. I'd already tucked those photos into their own folder.
Whew.
Problem solved. And no cheating required. ;)
Here are my photos from the last week:
Tuesday, May 27th: We went to Darlene's for supper and some playtime in their yard. I got a lot of great pictures on their trampoline, but this one was my favourite.
Wednesday, May 28th: We had a friend from Jonah's class come over and play at our house for the afternoon. It went well, except, she kind of got passed from Sage to Jonah to play with. I'm not sure why they couldn't all play together... Anyway, there were some tears later, when Jonah informed Sage that he was going to marry this girl. Sage was crying when she said to me: "Jonah said he's not going to marry me!" Too cute. When I reminded her that Jonah was her brother and we don't marry our brothers, she said that she would marry her daddy instead. :)
Thursday, May 29th: A picture of Jonah on the field trip to the miniature farm in Manitou.
Friday, May 30th: We took the kids to the Maple Leaf playground after supper to fly the very cool kite that Austin got for his birthday. It looks like a scarlet macaw. There wasn't a lot of wind, so the kids did a lot of running (as did I, trying to get a good shot! ;) )
Saturday, May 31st: We drove to the Circle Square Ranch near Austin to attend a day of our church's retreat. The kids had a great day: playing games, trying the climbing wall, going on pony rides & hay rides and going on the trampoline... This photo of Sage, honestly, took my breath away.
Sunday, June 1st: We took the kids to Colert Beach to go fishing. Is this photo not adorable?
Monday, June 2nd: Jonah's baseball team, practising in their new jerseys. Jonah is #19.
