Altenew May Inspiration Challenge: From Places Abroad -- Australia

Today, I'm sneaking it at the last minute to share the card that I made for the

Altenew May Inspiration Challenge: From Places Abroad -- Australia:

And here is my card:

I actually stamped my card the same time that I made this card.

I liked the placement of my stamps, so I stamped it twice -- the first time

in versamark to I could heat emboss it in white and the second time in black.

Then, it sat on my desk... until my SIL called to ask

for a the last minute wedding card.

So, I took the colours from the inspiration photo and made a quick card.

I used Altenew buttercream, mango smoothie, carribean sky & sapphire for the flowers.

For the leaves, I used PTI spring moss and aqua mist.

Muse Card Club Guest Designer

I'm super excited to be guest designing for

the Muse Card Club Challenge this week!

I was playing around with my new PTI King of the Grill set and looking for different

ways to use it and thought it might be fun to stamp it on a piece of 

patterned paper -- to created kind of a "beach-type" wooden sign.

I started with a piece of Crate Paper patterned paper and diecut my 

PTI Shaker Shapes: Rectangle die from some classic kraft cardstock.

I diecut the buns and olive from some rustic cream patterned paper

and stamped them with their coordinating stamps.

I used my MISTI and stamped twice on each diecut, using a version

of the rock 'n roll technique. 

For the buns, I stamped in Wplus9 Hayride and then PTI Classic Kraft.

For the olive, I used limeade ice and simply chartreuse.

I stamped the rest of the burger directly onto the patterned paper

using PTI Limeade Ice & Altnew Warm Sunshine, Crimson and Dark Chocolate.

Make It Monday #250

Today, I have a card to share for Make It Monday #250: Masked Backgrounds.

I was inspired to make my card using one of my new PTI stencils.
 

I started by masking off a border on my card using post-it notes.

Then, I blended aqua mist, Hawaiian shores and harvest gold ink onto my panel.

I laid my stencil over top and masked off the parts I didn't want to stencil

with washi tape and applied some Wplus9 Ocean Drive ink over top.

I diecut the PTI Guiding Lights sailboat and stamped it in Hawaiian shores,

pure poppy and harvest gold.
 

I stamped my sentiments (from Wet Paint III, KIS: Father's Day

and KIS: Belated Birthday) in versafine onyx black/

Inspired By All The Little Things #17

Today, I have a card to share for 

Inspired By All the Little Things #17:

Isn't it pretty?

 I was inspired by the flowers in the cup to use my Altenew Best Mom 

stamp set to create my card.

I stamped the one branch on my watercolour paper and used some washi tape over two large leaves

on the bottom while I inked them up (& removed before stamping) in versafine onyx black.

Then, I rotated my cardstock 180˚ and repeated this step.

I heat embossed my stamped images in clear and coloured them in 

using my Zig markers, water and a paintbrush.

 I stamped my sentiment (from PTI's KIS: Sympathy) in versamark and

heat embossed it in white on a strip of black cardstock. 

I adhered it to my card using dimensional adhesive.

Five for Friday

1. Well, after many weeks of performances, recitals, etc,

it's been lovely to have a week where we didn't have very much scheduled!

Although, I did sign up to play on a slo-pitch team this summer

and we had an informal practice on Monday evening.

Jonah and Sage came along and threw the ball around a little

and then went to play on the bike trails in the park.

Have I mentioned how glad I am that it's spring?

2. We're planning a road trip to Denver next month

-- to visit family and to go to Denver Comic Con.

We like dressing up in cosplay (character costumes), but I decided that I

didn't want to wear my polar fleece TARDIS costume -- it would be much too hot!

So, Sage and I decided that together we would be Daleks 

(these are the enemies of the Doctor on Doctor Who.)

However, we also wanted to be comfortable, so we went to the thrift shop,

where I found a brown dress for $2 and Sage got a brown skirt and top.

Then, we purchased some black vinyl, gold spray paint and 20 3" Styrofoam balls.

On Monday, we had a holiday, so we put together our costumes.

The panels hang from the "belts" that attach around our waists with Velcro

in the back.

This way, we can add them to our costume, but didn't need to alter the dress, top or skirt.

Hopefully, John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness), Arthur Darvill (Rory),

Jenna Coleman (Clara) and Alex Kingston (River Song) will like them. ;)

3. Tomorrow, Jonah, Sage & I are off to Winnipeg where

we will be volunteering/officiating at the Club Challenge Invitational.

4. This coming Sunday, I'll be bringing my stamps to church

to make Father's Day Cards with my Sunday School girls for our last Card Club.

I'm bringing my PTI Guiding Lights set (one of the girls' dad is from the Maritimes

and so she wants to make her card using a lighthouse), King of the Grill and

On the Farm stamp sets.

I'm also going to bring my diecutting machine and teach them how to diecut.

It should be fun!

5. And speaking of making Father's Day cards using On the Farm,

I have two cards to share that I made using The Challenge #74:

I didn't use a tractor on my cards, but I was inspired with the whole farming theme.

 

 

For my first card, I stamped the background stamped in harvest gold

and green parakeet, doing a little bit of masking.

I stamped the horse and barn overtop in versafine onyx black ink.

I diecut the rectangle die from the MIM Shakers kit.

 

I stamped the sentiment (from KIS: Father's Day) on a strip of black cardstock

and heat embossed it in white.

 

And my second card was a little more CAS...

 

I made a stencil with my Scene It: Skyscapes sunburst die

and applied harvest gold ink mixed with water with a paintbrush to my card front.

Then, I added some green parakeet ink as well.

When it was dry, I stamped the barn in versafine onyx black ink.

 

I stamped the sentiments (from On the Farm and KIS: Belated Birthday)

in versafine onyx black ink, as well.

I decided to use CAS(E) This Sketch #174 designed by Chrissy Larson 
to make my card:

As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew that it was a perfect sketch to use 

Reverse Confetti's You Are a Star to make a card for Austin,

celebrating his success in his school play.

I started by using my Zig Markers to watercolour my background.

Then, I spritzed it with a bit of white ink mixed with water.

I stamped the You Are a Star stamps onto their You Are a Star Confetti Cuts,

which I diecut from watercolour paper -- the same as my background

Then, I added a few wooden stars as well.

Papertrey Ink May Blog Hop

Today, I'm participating in the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. 

Our challenge was to use this beautiful photo as inspiration:

Isn't it fabulous?

I just love it!

In fact, I love it so much that I was inspired to make 17 cards using it. ;)

First of all, I was inspired to make some cards for my Sunday School girls.

I can't believe our year together is almost up and

that next year, they'll be moving up to junior high.

I wanted to give them each a card to remind them how awesome they are...

Since I have seven girls in my group, I made seven cards, using my MISTI.

I actually made eight cards, anticipating that I might make a mistake on one of them...

I started by stamping the popsicles from Summer Sweetness on a watercolour

panel, spritzing my stamps with water after inking them up each time.

On the bottom two, I reinked them again with a different colour.

I added the sticks and drops & then stamped the sentiment

(from SSS Big Scripty Sentiments) in Altenew Evening Grey.

For something a little different, I folded a piece of sweet blush cardstock in half

and used that as my card back.

And remember how I said I made eight cards, just in case?

Well, it was a good thing I did, because one of my popsicle details got stamped

all crooked (a side-effect of spritzing with water!), so I diecut three of the

popsicles from the panel using the coordinating dies and made this card:

I watercoloured the background using some harvest gold and bright buttercup

ink pressed onto an acrylic block, mixed with water.

I stamped a piece of aqua mist cardstock with my MFT Sketched Chevron Background stamp.

I stamped the sentiment (from Summer Sweetness)

and added some wooden stars to finish it off.

And then, when you'd think that 8 cards would be enough,

I was brainstorming ideas for the couples who are getting married soon for whom

our church is throwing a Jack & Jill potluck lunch shower

and thought how, since the shower is centered around the meal,

popsicles could be a sweet image to include.

So, I made nine cards like this:

I stamped the harvest gold/berry sorbet popsicles onto their coordinating diecuts

using the same technique as above.

Using my MISTI (how I love this tool!), I stamped the aqua mist/tropical teal popsicle

as well as the sentiments (from Walter & Winnie's The Big, The Bold and Blessings)

on each card front.

Then, leaving my sentiment stamps in place,

I stamped them onto the popsicle diecuts before adhering them to my cards.

Pretty sweet, don't you think? ;)

Essentials by Ellen May Pin-Sights Challenge

Today, I have a card to share for the Essentials by Ellen May Pin-Sights Challenge:

Isn't it pretty!

I love the mix of soft peach and pink colours in the top left hand photo

and I was inspired by the photo of the peonies in the cup at the bottom.

I started by watercoloring my background using a paint brush, some water 

and some harvest gold and bright buttercup ink pressed onto my acrylic block.

To created my "cup", I diecut part of a PTI Mat Stack 5 die, trimmed off the rounded

end and used my scor-pal to impress the line.

I diecut my Essentials by Ellen Mondo Hydrangea flowers and stamped them

with the coordinating stamp in versamark and heat embossed them in gold.

I coloured them in using a paint brush, some water 

and some Altnew perfect peach, frosted pink and cotton candy ink 

pressed onto my acrylic block.

I used PTI bright buttercup for the centres.

I stamped my sentiment (from PTI's KIS: Birthday) in versafine onyx black.

Fusion {Port O' Call Polaroid}

Today, I have a card to share for Fusion {Port O' Call Polaroid}:

I was inspired by the photo to make a nautical card using PTI's Guiding Light

and Big Sky cover plate..

I started by diecutting the Big Sky cover plate from white cardstock.

I fussy cut some Basic Grey patterned paper for the water

and added the diecut sailboat (I cut along some waves with a craft knife

and tucked it in.)

I blended some ink onto my background and adhered the cover plate panel over top.

I stamped the birds and sentiment to finish it off (also from Guiding Light.)

MFT Wednesday Sketch 281 & Colour Challenge 45

 

The local store where I sell my cards suggested I make some Father's Day cards

for them to sell since my Mother's Day cards sold out. :)

 

So, I thought that the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 281 &

the MFT Colour Challenge 45 would work perfectly:

 

 

I was inspired by this card by the incredibly talented Amy Sheffer

to make my cards, using MFT's Soda Pop.

 

 

I started by impressing my card backs using one of my MFT stax circle dies.

Then, I diecut all of my elements from white cardstock (except for the bottle

labels, which I diecut from vellum) and blended ink onto the bottles, caps and straws.

Then, I mixed some ink with water and flicked it onto my bottles

to give an appearance of bubbles.

I stamped the fruit and star circles onto some circles I punched

and tied some twine around my bottle tops.

 

 

I stamped the sentiment (from Soda Pop) onto a strip of teal cardstock

in versamark and heat embossed it in white.

Then, I stamped the "Happy Father's Day" sentiment (from PTI's KIS: Father's Day).

 

For each card, I used the same colours, but switched up

the order of the bottles and the colours of the mats.

Insprired By All The Little Things #16 & Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge -- Birdhouse -- Take Two

Today, I have a couple of cards to share.

 

The first one is for Inspired By All the Little Things #16:

 



 

If you know me, you know how much I love bike images!

I decided to use PTI's Petal Pusher to create my card.

 

 

This card started out with my using the blue woodgrain patterned papers as my full card background.

I stamped the bike on this diecut and stamped the wheels directly onto the patterned paper.

But then, I wasn't thrilled wit it.... so I diecut the bike from the panel using 

my PTI Shaker Shapes: Squares die.

I cut the frame from a piece of the darker blue woodgrain paper. 

 

I stamped the sentiment onto my white cardstock panel

and matted my card on a piece of the lighter blue patterned paper.

 I also have another card to share that I made using the current

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge -- Birdhouse:

 

This time, I decided to create one large birdhouse one my card.

 

 

I cut out my patterned paper birdhouse by hand.

(It reminded me of the "olden days"  before I owned a diecutting machine and

how I would create tags for scrapbooking by starting with a rectangle,

and making pencil marks on where to trim it to make the shape!)

I diecut the roof using Reverse Confetti's Double Edge Scallop Border

and adhered it to my card with dimensional adhesive.

 

The bird is from PTI's Spring Woods stamp set, which I stamped on its coordinating diecut.

I stamped the sentiment (from PTI's KIS: Birthday) onto a Quilted Tag banner diecut.
