MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 265 & Colour Challenge 38

Today, I have a card to share that I made using both the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 265:

I was very inspired by these two cards that Amy Sheffer posted on her blog earlier this week
to make my card.

I started by blending three different colours of ink onto my background
and  then  flicked some droplets of water onto it.
I diecut the two MFT Soda Pop bottles and inked them as well.

I heat embossed the sentiments onto vellum and a strip of black cardstock.

Muse Card Challenge #150

Well, today I'm off to a Taekwondo patterns seminar.
Did you know that patterns are my favourite part of taekwondo?
Well, patterns and board breaking. ;)

Before I go, I just wanted to share the card that I made for the Muse Card Challenge #150,
which was to be inspired by this card by Jenni Murray:

Isn't it beautiful?
Here's my card:

I started by inking some soft pink ink onto a strip of cardstock,
which I stamped overtop using PTI's Text Style in soft stone.
Over this strip, I layered another piece of white cardstock, which I stamped with PTI's Choose Joy.

I stamped the apple blossoms onto another piece of white cardstock,
coloured it with some ink pressed onto an acrylic block, some water and a paintbrush
and then fussy-cut it out by hand.
A few PTI rainstones finish it off.

CAS(E) This Sketch #157 -- Take Two

Today, I have another card to share that I made for
CAS(E) This Sketch #157 designed by N@ Ali:

I was inspired by the sketches' clouds and burst and decided
to use some Reverse Confetti  products to recreate it.

I stamped my rainbow stripes at the top using the single stripe from So Stripey
in raspberry fizz, summer sunrise, limeade ice, Hawaiian shores & winter wisteria
and added a few clouds that I diecut using the Sun 'n Clouds Confetti Cuts.

I finished it off by stamping my sentiment (from God is Good).

Remember, there's still time to play along with this week's CAS(E) this Sketch.
You have until Thursday, February 4th to link up your card.

CAS(E) This Sketch #157

Today, I have a card to share that I made for
CAS(E) This Sketch #157 designed by N@ Ali:

I decided to use my PTI Winter Woods stamps to create my card:

I inked my panel background before stamping the branch from Winter Woods
and the sentiment from Reverse Confetti's Lots to Say.

Then I perched my chickadee, which I stamped onto a coordinating diecut.

Visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see the rest of the DT's takes on the sketch
and to play along, if you'd like.

MFT Sketch Challenge 246 & Colour Challenge 37

Today, I'm sharing the card that I made for last week's MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 246:

Here's my card:

I stamped the flowers on their coordinating diecuts using MFT's Fall Florals.
I also used a MFT background floral stamp to stamp my cardstock strip.

The sentiment is from SSS's Blessed stamp set.

(Sorry for the poor lighting!)

Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop

Today, I'm participating in the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

This month's challenge is this fabulous inspirational photo:

I was inspired by the oval shapes and the colours to make my card,
using the Life is Beautiful butterfly dies.

I started with an aqua mist background, on which I stamped a stamp from Brushed Off
several times in aqua mist.
Then, I stamped the sentiment from Phrases and Praises.

I diecut the butterflies from orange zest and kraft cardstock.
On the orange solid butterflies, I stamped the same Brushed Off stamp in orange zest.
On the kraft butterflies, I inked the middle of each one in black with my blending tool.
Then, I swiped some aqua mist ink onto a scrap of aqua mist cardstock and diecut the outside
edges of the butterflies and added those pieces to my card.

Fusion Card Challenge {Woodgrain Neutral}

Today, I have a card to share that I made for the current

I was inspired by both the photo and the sketch to make my card.
To do so, I used some Reverse Confetti products.

I started by creating a wreath using the  Leafy Confetti Cuts, which I diecut from kraft cardstock
and splattered with watered-down white acrylic paint.
The polka dotted flowers in the inspirational photo reminded me of the Petals 'n Posies
blooms, so I diecut those with their coordinating Petals 'n Posies Confetti Cuts
and stamped them with some dusk and desert night inks.

I stamped the sentiment (from God is Good) with the same inks,
inking up the stamp with the darker ink at the bottom and
the lighter one on top to create an ombre effect.

Sparkle & Shine Challenge #22

I have a card to share that I made this morning for the Sparkle & Shine Challenge #22,
which was to be inspired by this wonderful photo:

I love that sweet cardinal!
I immediately knew that I would use my PTI Winter Woods set to make my card,
but I hadn't quite decided how I would create my background.
and was totally inspired to create a similar background of watercolored snowflakes!

Here's my card:

I started by stamping the snowflakes from MFT's Snowflake Flurry stamp set onto
a piece of watercolour paper in stormy sea.
Then, I pressed some stormy sea ink onto my acrylic block, added some water and with a paint brush
applied the ink to each snowflake.
The watercolour paper looked a little too creamy with my white Winter Woods cover plate,
so I added more water to the ink and did a light wash over the whole panel.

Once this was dry, I stamped the sentiment (from Phrases and Praises) onto my
watercolour background and onto the diecut coverplate, separately.
I adhered the trees over top and added my stamped cardinal.
I matted everything on a piece of stormy seas cardstock.
A few Pretty Pink Posh Clear Droplets finish it off.

Five for Friday

Welcome to my first "Five for Friday" post for 2016!

1. Thanks so much for everyone's encouraging words about Austin getting his driver's license!
And, it has been great!
On evenings, when I'm making supper, I've been able to ask him to go and pick up
his siblings if they've stayed after school for art club, basketball practice, choir, etc.,
which has been wonderful!
And the other night, he took the car to youth, so I didn't have to leave my house at 9:30pm
and go and pick him up.
It's awesome!

2. For the past few months, I haven't been reading very much.
But when I was subbing at the middle school, I picked up a copy of the book
Wonder by R.J. Palacio and was hooked from the get-go.
I got a copy at my local library to read and loved it!
I noticed that the author had another book called 365 Days of Wonder and picked
it up at my library yesterday.
It's filled with wonderful quotes about kindness, etc. -- one for every day of the year.
Sage found the ones for our birthdays and I just loved the one for mine,
so I decided to put it up on the chalkboard over our piano.

3. So, I made some goals for the new year...
One of them is to test for my 3rd Degree black belt in Taekwondo in May.
And, in order to achieve this goal and feel great about it, I also made a goal to lose 30 lbs.
I've cut out sugar & deep-fried foods and am keeping my calories below 1200 each day.
I'm using an app called Lose It to track my calories and so far, so good.
I weighed myself yesterday and I'm down 6.5 lbs. :)

4. Our town's festival of the arts is coming up this spring,
so we've been busy selecting pieces to perform:
voice for Sage, poems for Jonah and Sage
and piano for Jonah and Sage.
Jonah and I will be performing a duet of the Mission Impossible theme song
and Sage and I will play Amazing Grace together.

5. And lastly, I have a card to share today that I made for
the Muse Card Club Challenge #149, which was to be inspired by this card by Tracey McNeely:

Sage's voice teacher recently lost her mother, so I decided to make a sympathy card for her.

I diecut my spring moss and white cardstock using Mama Elephant's Femme Frames.
I stamped the flowers using Papertrey Ink's Brushed Blooms.
I used a paintbrush dipped in watered-down ink to add some detail to the smaller yellow flowers.

I stamped the sentiment using Reverse Confetti's Lots to Say stamp set.

CAS(E) This Sketch #156 & Curtain Call Inspiration -- Girly -- Take Three

Today, I have a card to share that I made for
CAS(E) This Sketch #156 designed by Michele Ferguson:

To make my card, I also used the latest Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge -- Girly:

southmoonunder.com

I decided to use my PTI Winter Woods stamp set for my card:

I stamped my berries and branches on my rustic white background.
I stamped my sentiment (also from Winter Woods) onto a strip of black cardstock
and heat embossed it in white.

Then I stamped my chickadee on a coordinating diecut and placed
him on my card.

Visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see the rest of the DT's takes on the sketch

Reverse Confetti Special Release

Hey there, 'Fetti Fans, do we have a treat for you!

Reverse Confetti is have a special release.... today!

They have released two new Confetti Cuts, as well as some fabulous Clear Tote Bags -- perfect for treat bags.
And the new Confetti Cuts coordinate with the Clear Tote Bags, so you can dress them up!

Aren't they just the sweetest?
With Valentine's coming up, I thought it would be fun to create a treat bag full of chocolate.
I filled the Clear Tote Bag with Pecan Clusters.

I diecut the In the Bag Confetti Cuts from some white cardstock and, with a paintbrush,
painted on some stripes, using some Lovely Lady ink mixed with water.
It reminds me of an awning you might find at a Sweet Shop!

I also diecut two of the tags that are included with the In the Bag Confetti Cuts,
along with one of the toppers.
I smooshed some of the same ink onto the topper, as well as onto a piece of cardstock,
from which I diecut the "love" from Lovey Words Confetti Cuts.
I stamped the "all you need is" sentiment from Lovey Words Coordinates in dark chocolate.

On the second tag, I stamped the sentiment from Lovey Words Coordinates,
which just seemed appropriate for this treat bag.
I tied the tags to the bag using some Solid Strawberry Twine.

And in honour of our special release, we're having a blog hop, with some fabulous guests!
Here's a complete list of the Special Release Blog Hop participants:

Leigh Penner (me!)

So, remember, the new products for the special release are available for purchase in the Reverse Confetti store.
