Today, I'm posting the cards that I made for the 10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge #22. That's right, I said cards. If you know me, you know that before I joined the DT, I participated in the Craft Dash and often didn't succeed my first time. I don't know why I thought that by joining the DT, that I would succeed each time.
Well, I learned that this isn't true.
Case in point... my first card.
I was very excited about the colour combo, because I have become a real lover of navy. I have this navy blue striped top that I like to wear with my white capris. On it, the navy blue stripes are wider than the white stripes. So I thought I'd do this on a card with some card stock. Then I decided I'd stamp a cute cluster of flowers using my Wplus9 Fresh Cut Floral stamps and dies. I was doing really well, too. I'd had my flowers diecut and stamped and my sentiment stamped when I glanced at my time.....
10:06.
Oh. Well.
I stopped the time and finished up, adhering my flowers and adding some navy blue stamped dots to three of them. I not sure what my final time was (maybe 14 or 15 minutes-- still pretty darn quick for me, let me tell you. ;) ) But I was quite happy with it.
So, this means that I had to start over. And since I was so pleased with my idea and my card, I flipped through my stamps to find something else that would work..... and found my World Map set. Sigh.
I decided to stamp the map with navy and green inks and to try to keep the green to the continents. I stamped in green first, added the navy to the stamp and then wiped off a little over the continents and reinked them in green. Here's the result:
I added a Mama Elephant stamp (from Wanderlust), stamped on a PTI Get a Handle on It die cut. I stamped the compass from Road Trip in berry sorbet, cut it out by hand and tucked it behind the banner. Then I added a few Simple Stories decorative brads (the plane and the navy and green ones) and a Teresa Collins decorative brad in berry.
And my time....
Success!

Gah, I love that floral card! Those stripes, those flowers, it's perfection! I also love the second! I adore the LO Great work Leigh!
both are great, but that stripe and floral is gorgeous!
Both cards are great inspiration for the colour challenge. Love the bold stripes on your first card and the sweet floral bouquet. I'm intrigued with the way you inked the world map with two colours Something I need to try!!
Wow! Both of these are amazing. The striped one is perfection, but love that map too - what stamp is that?
Totally agree with you Leigh sometimes I fail to make the card in 10 minutes but I cotinue making card until I reach my goal. The two cards are awesome but i looove the brads on the second one and how you stamped with two inks the map.
Both beautiful cards esp the striped navy one. I might use that on a scrapbooking layout soon :) -- Irma
Leigh, I love both cards that you made. Great use of that map stamp. It's at the top of my wishlist.
That first one is amazing, I can't believe it only took 10 minutes! You are amazing!
Okay, even though I bought the WPlus9 set, I'm now scared to even pull it out. Leigh, your creations with it are so perfect- who can even come close to your beauties?! You are so incredibly talented!
Love both of these cards and again, am thrilled to have you on my team. You and the other girls inspire me so much!
You had me at navy!!
YAY!! I got excited when I saw the colors...
and I shy from color challenges so you really did have me at navy! :)
And both of these are gorgeous!!
I'm gonna give it another go...
it's such an adrenaline rush!
And is as daring I get...
I have nerves of wet noodles so that's why I don't jump off cliffs...
or even my front porch. :(
I love both cards! No wonder you said you're behind on the SCC2 homework--you've been very busy with these cards, as well as designing.( I'm retired from teaching and have no children, and I don't get anywhere near as many projects made as you do!)
LOVe the floral card but both are spectular!:-)
Both cards are just beautiful! I need to pull out my map stamp... it's been neglected so far. But your card might just be the inspiration I need!
Leigh you are so funny I ADORE both your cards but as you would see from my card - I am becoming slightly obsessed with stripes at the moment so I have to admit to be being totally drawn to that one especially. And the cluster of blooms - wow! Slightly wishing I had waited and bought that set instead of the mini blooms from PTI but can't justify both!!! What's a girl to do??
Two more stunning cards. I think even at 15 minutes, they are both gorgeous and look like they would have taken way longer.
I love both of these cards! The blue with strips and flowers are very dramatic.
Beautiful cards, Leigh. And since, for the first card, I have the real thing in my hands I can say that it's even more beautiful in person!
love them both however long they took you!
Both cards are fantastic. I'm so glad you shared the one that you went over with (it is beautiful!) and that you shared that this is still a challenge for you sometimes...the last challenge I just could not make a card in under 10 minutes and I was so frustrated...maybe this next challenge. :)
You DO do navy so well, Leigh! Your pinks look beautiful with it! I'm a sucker for florals, but BOTH cards are beautifully done!!!
