Today, I have a card to share that I made for

 CAS(E) This Sketch #280 designed by Chrissy Larson:

Here's my card:

I stamped my image using Concord & 9th's Lovely stamp, in versafine onyx black

and then heat embossed it in clear.

I coloured it in using my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours and a water brush.

I stamped my sentiment (from PTI's Tropics) in Altenew Jet Black

onto its coordinating diecut and adhered it to my card with dimensional adhesive.

CAS(E) This Sketch #279

Today, I have a card to share that I made for

 CAS(E) This Sketch #279 designed by Chrissy Larson:

Here's my card:

I started by stamping my feather (from PTI's Feather Finery) in versamark

onto a piece of white cardstock and then heat embossed it in white.

Then, I blended Altenew Honey Drizzle and Coral Berries onto it

with my blending tool and diecut it using the coordinating die.

I masked of a section of my background panel and repeated the process,

flicking it with water and ink when I was done.

Once it was dry, I stamped the sentiment (from PTI's Tropics) in versamark

and heat embossed it in white.

Five for Friday

I know it's been a long time since I posted a "Five for Friday."

Life has been pretty busy lately -- I would have thought I would 

be used to working full time by now.

Not that I'm not enjoying it -- I truly love my job!

But between that, and spending time with my family, my blog has been a little neglected.

So, I thought I'd give you a bit of an update on how my family is doing...




1. Austin finished his first year at Steinbach Bible College and really enjoyed it.



 He decided to spend his summer serving at Roseau River Bible camp,
and really seems to be liking that, too.
It's over an hour away from home, so he's only been home for a couple of weekends,
but he seems quite happy, which makes me happy.


2. Jonah had a busy spring.
He was involved in the school play (Dorothy in Wonderland -- a mash up of
The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland -- it was very fun!)
Jonah played the Mad Hatter and he was fabulous!



He is also busy with jazz choir, band &  jazz band, where he plays the double bass.



He's also been learning how to drive (he's quite good!) and got a job
serving at our Access Event Centre.



3. 

Sage has also had a busy spring, as she finished up Grade 8 -- singing in choirs,
being in her school play (Madagascar) and having a big role in her school's medieval feast,
where she was the lady of the feast and sang a solo.

The feast lasted an hour and I don't think she stopped smiling the whole time!

4. As proud as my children's accomplishments make me, however,
nothing gave me more joy than to watch Sage & Jonah get baptized on May 27th at our church.

5. My job at Two30Nine is going really well!

On Monday, I went to visit a client whose kitchen I designed.

Because she lives in North Dakota, we couldn't install it for her,

so she ordered it as supply only. 

I told her once it was done, I really wanted to come and see the end result.

She is so happy with how it turned out -- and so am I!

The upper cabinets are painted with White Dove & the lower ones are Hale Navy

(both of these colours are Benjamin Moore).

I love how crisp and warm this feels!

I love the framed glass doors!

I designed a custom hood so my client's husband wouldn't hit his head while he cooks.

I also designed some built-ins beside the new fireplace to replace the angled cabinets that 

were there before.

The TV is on an arm that swings out when they want to watch it from the couch.

I can't even explain how exciting it is for me to see

one of my designs on paper (or on the computer) become a beautiful kitchen in the end!

We're off to Sage's awards ceremony for the Grade 8s at her school.

I'm pretty sure she'll be getting an award for making the honour roll this year. :)

CAS(E) This Sketch #278

Today, I have a card to share that I made for

 CAS(E) This Sketch #278 designed by Donna Mikasa:

Now, I have to say I was pretty stumped by this sketch for a while.
I just couldn't get past seeing a snowman -- LOL!
So after playing around in my craft area, I finally came up with something,
but I switched the placement of my sentiment to make it work for me.
Here's my card:

I stamped the three butterflies from MFT Beautiful Butterflies in
Altenew Honey Drizzle & Coral Berries and PTI's Orange Zest.
For each one, I took the same shade of ink and pressed it onto
an acrylic block, spritzed it with water and smooshed it onto the butterflies,
lifting off some of the colour with a baby wipe, where necessary.
I mixed a little more ink with the water and flicked that over top.

I stamped my sentiment in Altnew Jet Black ink using MFT's Handwritten Happiness.

Papertrey Ink June Blog Hop

Today, I have a card to share for this month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop.

 

 This month's challenge was to use this photo as inspiration:

Isn't it fun?

So perfect for summer!

I decided that it would be fun to make a card with popsicles and fruit

and use Psalm 34:8 as my sentiment: "Taste & see that the Lord is good."

I thought that I had a stamp with this sentiment in PTI's Daily Bread set, 

but when I went to look yesterday, it wasn't there.

So, I decided to make my own sentiment for my card on my computer

and printed it out on PTI white cardstock. 

Here's my card:

I stamped my fruit using Still Life: Summer stamps and dies.

I stamped my popsicles from Summer Sweetness, inking them up with several 

colours and then spritzing them with water before stamping them

onto my background or onto a coordinating die.

It had been a while since I played in my craft area 

and it felt very good to make this card yesterday evening.

I really enjoyed it!

Here's my card:

I stamped the arrow from Reverse Confetti's Boho Vibes
and the sentiment from Papertrey Ink's Tropics in versamark
and heat embossed them in Pewter embossing powder.

Individually, I pressed Altenew Dusk, Lagoon & Honey Drizzle onto an acrylic block,
misted them with water and pressed them onto my watercolour panel.
I trimmed it down and matted it on another piece of watercolour paper.

Today, I have a card to share that I made for

Here's my card:

I stamped my images and sentiments from Papertrey Ink's King of the Grill stamp set.

I diecut the bun and olive with their coordinating diecuts and trimmed out the rest

of the fixings by hand.

I used my corner rounder on a piece of brown cardstock that I trimmed to size
-- can't remember the last time I used that! -- and mounted everything on a piece of
Crate Paper patterned paper that I had in my stash.

My card was super quick to create!

I trimmed a piece of Crate Paper patterned paper that I had in my stash to fit my card panel.

I stamped the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp's Big Scripty sentiments in Altenew Jet Black ink.

I added a little machine stitching to finish it off.

Inspired By All the Little Things #86

Today, I have a card to share for 

Inspired By All the Little Things #86:

I was inspired by the feathers, how they were hung and the colours.

I decided to use my Reverse Confetti Boho Vibes stamp set to make my card:

I stamped my images onto watercolour paper in versamark ink

and heat embossed them in white.

I coloured them in using my Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolours.

 I stamped my sentiment (from Papertrey Ink's Pedal Pusher) in versamark ink

and heat embossed it in white on a strip of black cardstock,

which I diecut with a MFT diecut and attached with dimensional adhesive.

Today, I have a card to share that I made for

I was also inspired by Betty Wright's beautiful card 
that she shared a couple of weeks ago.
Here's my card:

I started by stamping my medium size feather from PTI's Feather Finery onto it's coordinating

diecut (diecut from aqua mist cardstock) in versamark and heat embossed it in white.

I stamped my sentiment (from Waltzingmouse's Fine Feathers) in Altenew Black ink

and heat embossed the feathers from that set in white.

I finished it off by splattering on some Altenew Jet Black ink mixed with water.
