Create Together with Marcie Sharp -- Take Two

As I shared two weeks ago, I was invited by Marcie Sharp, to play along with her
Create Together -- Creative Collaboration Challenge this month.
My cards that I made for the first challenge are here.

Marcie chose the inspiration last time and
said that I could choose our inspiration piece for this week.
Here's what I picked:

Isn't it fabulous?
I decided to use my Essentials by Ellen Mondo Hydrangea stamp set
and some Papertrey Ink text patterned paper to make my card.

I stamped it in dark chocolate onto my aqua mist cardstock background,
as well as onto the text patterned paper.
Using my craft knife, I cut out the hydrangea stamped on the text paper,
starting with the pieces on the inside and finishing with the outside edge.
I did the same for the leaf and adhered the fussy cut pieces to my card.
It's had to tell in the photo, but inspired by the white leaves in the inspiration photo,
I coloured in the flower centres with a paintbrush and white acrylic paint.

I stamped my sentiment (from PTI Songbirds) in dark chocolate as well,
and adhered my panel to a vintage cream base.

And, then, when I was typing out my piece, I decided
that I really wanted to make a second card -- this time using a tree.
So I pulled out my PTI Mighty Oak cover plate and some
of the same PTI text paper...

I diecut the tree and leaves from the text paper and some white cardstock.

I diecut the banner from dark chocolate cardstock using PTI's
double-ended banner dies and heat embossed my sentiment
(from PTI's KIS: Birthday) in white.

Create Together -- Creative Collaboration with Marcie Sharp

I got an email recently from my fellow
asking if I'd like to play along with her

Well, you know I am always up for a challenge,
so of course, I said yes. :)
Marcie sent me this photo to use for inspiration to make my card:

Isn't is pretty and fun?
I was all set.... when Marcie added another aspect to the challenge:
a one-layer card.
Gulp!
While I love CAS cards, I rarely make one-layer cards.
But a challenge is a challenge, so I decided to go for it.

Since I had my MFT Flashy Florals kit on my desk,
I decided to do some masking with it.
I love the fact that the image is on sweet blush background,
so I pulled out a piece of sweet blush cardstock for my background.

To stamp my colours onto my coloured background,
I used my MISTI and stamped the images first in Wplus9 white
and then stamped it again in colour.

Well, with so many layers stamped onto the mask over the yellow
flower, when I pulled it off, the green inks had soaked through. :(
So I diecut the one bloom from sweet blush cardstock, started over
with stamping the flower and then adhered it over my botched flower.

The sentiment is from PTI's Songbirds.

Okay, so because I failed with the one-layer card, I started over.
This time, I decided to use Concord & 9th's Flourish stamp set -- no masking necessary!

I used the same technique of stamping the stamps first in white
and then a second time in colour.

I stamped the sentiment from PTI's Choose Joy.
