MIM# 134: two takes

Happy World Card Making Day!
Are you making cards today?
I'm off to spend the day at a fundraising crop that I'm hosting.
I have a bunch of ideas sketched out for cards, so I'm hoping my day will be productive...

Before I go, I want to share two cards that I made for

Here is the first one:

I used a mix of Simple Stories and Crate Paper patterned paper to make my card.
I stamped my "hello" in Harvest Gold and Summer Sunrise a couple of times onto my patterned paper
and then added the diecut word with dimensional adhesive.
A little stitching finishes it off.

And here is my second card:

I used some Simple Stories patterned paper to die cut my word and my Fresh Cut Florals flowers and leaves.
I stamped my "hello" in Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores onto my patterned paper
and then added the diecut word with dimensional adhesive.

WCMD Blog Hop

Note: This is my second post for today.
Please scroll down to see my post for the Fresh Squeezed Stamps Birthday Celebration.

I'm thrilled to participating in the World Card Making Day Blog Hop!

I still remember being in Congo last October and getting the email that
I was a winner of the 2012 World Card Making Contest.
I'm pretty sure I must have squealed out loud, because I remember having to explain
to my team (of four men!) that I'd won.
And that it was a pretty big deal. ;)

For the blog hop, today, we were challenged to create a card in the same category in which we won.

Mine was birthday.

So, here's my birthday card....

I stamped my feather stamps into Versamark and then into dye ink before stamping them
onto vellum  and heat embossing them with clear embossing powder.
I cut them out by hand and adhered them onto my cardstock background,
which I'd stamped with the sentiment before running it through my diecutting machine
with my woodgrain impression plate.
This cardstock panel was adhered to a piece of Teresa Collins patterned paper
and a button and some twine finish it off.

So, the next stop on the hop is the incredibly talented Lorena Cantó Lavería.

And, if you'd like to start at the beginning, here's the full blog hop list:

Leigh Penner (that's me!)

And you also might want to check out the World Card Making Day web site.
And don't forget to visit the Paper Crafts Connection Blog, where they have a nice giveaway
in honour of the WCMD Blog Hop.

Happy Birthday, FSS!

Fresh Squeezed Stamps is turning one this week
and we've been celebrating all week long!

I have a card to share using their new stamp Paper, Scissors, Ink.
It's a subway style stamp that's perfect for card makers and scrapbookers. :)

I stamped the subway art sentiment onto a diecut in red ink
and layered it over some Teresa Collins patterned paper.
I added a die cut banner, on which I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from You Said It, Sister
and the Crafty Friend sentiment from Ink, Paper, Scissors.
A Studio Calico wooden scissors and some buttons finish it off.

Be sure to head on over to the Fresh Squeezed Stamps blog
to check out the birthday celebrations there
and to entered into the draws they're having this week!

CAS(E) this Sketch #48

And here is the card I made with it:

I kept this one pretty simple. I stamped the feathers from Wplus9's Fanciful Feathers in three different colours of ink and added the sentiment.

Visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see the rest of the DT's takes on the sketch and to play along, if you'd like. You have until Thursday, October 10th to link up your card.

P.S. I still have some stamps and dies for sale here if you'd like to check them out.

10 Minute Craft Dash #27

Hi there! I'm popping in today to share my card for the 10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge #27
which is to use the colours shown in the photo above.

For my card today, I decided to make a fall card using my Picket Fence Die and the pumpkin image from Scent-imentals.

I diecut a mat stack 4 from true black cardstock and layered it over some Simple Stories patterned paper. I stamped the image in versa mark and heat embossed it with white embossing powder (I was a little nervous about heat embossing on a timed challenge, but it actually worked out okay!) I added the fence and pumpkin and checked my time: 8:20, which meant I had time to add some stitching.

The stitching took me less than a minute..... my final time was 9:17.3. :)

You can check out the challenge and what the other DT members made for it here
Here's what the prize is:
