A couple of birthday cards...

I have a couple of cards that I would like to share today that I made for this week's Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink: Stamping Random Background patterns.

This first one, I actually made several weeks ago, but it was inspired by this card (the first one) by Ashley Cannon Newell, so I thought it would be fine to submit it for this week's challenge.

I stamped the background using a heart stamp from LLH:Holidays and a circle stamp from Rosie Posie. I stamped off several times with each stamp. I made the banner with my Get A Handle On It die, as well as my Modern Alphabet dies. The sentiments were stamped with SS:Birthday, selectively inking several sentiments to create this one. A little bit of My Mind's Eye baker's twine finishes it off.

I made my second card for my twin brother (it's his birthday this coming Wednesday!) He likes to golf, so I borrowed my friend's On the Links set to make his card. I diecut the banners with the Get a Handle On it die from some My Mind's Eye patterned paper. I stamped the golf cart on some aqua mist card stock, diecut with Mat Stack 1. I stamped the wheels first and heat embossed them with black embossing powder and then I stamped the cart and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I had a few speckles, so I scratched them off with a craft knife, and to cover up the scratch marks, I impressed it with my Linen & Canvas IP. I stamped the background with the little golf ball stamp in the set.

Thanks for looking!

Lovely cards Leigh! I especially like how you made the little banner on the first one!

And if your twin has a birthday on the 14th, that must mean that your birthday is on the 14th too (and my birthday is also August 14th)! Happy birthday a little early!

Love the banner on the first card - both are great examples of the stamped background adding a little extra interest without overwhelming the card design! I'm going out on a limb and assuming it might be your birthday on Wed too, so sending an early birthday greeting :)
