Pages With Papertrey #33

Today I have a layout to share for Pages With Papertrey Challenge #33
which is to include journaling in more than one place on your layout.

I created my layout using a sketch comes from Create: Sketches:

It's a 8.5x11" sketch, but I converted it to a 12x12".
I didn't have a bunch of tiny photos printed up, so I decided to use one 4x6" photo instead.

Here's my layout:

I used some Fancy Pants patterned paper and letter stickers (pink).

For my title, I cut the "Valentine" out on my silhouette from the same white cardstock
as my background (American Crafts).

From some coordinating patterned paper, I diecut the two hearts using my
Reverse Confetti's Love Note dies.
I added a PTI button and twine.

Here's the first part of my journaling:

Since I had three stories to share (one for each of my kids), I decided to use my
PTI Edger's #5 dies and create three tabs -- one for each of them -- that I can
pull out to reveal my journaling.
I stamped their names using a Studio Calico stamp that my friend Mandy gave me.
It's like a date stamp, but with letters instead of months and numbers.

I diecut each of the tabs from patterned paper and sewed them to some PTI which cardstock,
on which I'd printed my journaling.

Pages With Papertrey Sketch #32

Today, I have a sketch & a layout to share

The sketch is the next one in my Create: Sketches book.

I decided to convert the sketch to a 12x12 layout and
instead of one photo, I used 8x10 photo collage that I had made.

My background patterned paper is Basic Grey.
I diecut my title letters from some SSS woodgrain cardstock
using my PTI Book Print uppercase alphabet dies.
I diecut my tag using the same woodgrain cardstock and my PTI Tag Sale #5 die.

I diecut the sled from the same cardstock again, but from the back, where it
was smoother.
I stamped the sled (PTI's Two Feet Deep) in pure poppy and black.
A few enamel dots finish it off.

If you create a layout using this sketch,
please link it either here in the comments or here on the PTI forum.

Pages With Papertrey Sketch #31

Today, I have a sketch & a layout to share

The sketch is the next one in my Create: Sketches book.

I decided to convert the sketch to a 12x12 layout
and I used six photos instead of nine.

I used some Basic Grey Carte Postale patterned paper, postage stamps & flair.
For my title, I stamped an arrow from Reverse Confetti's Crushin' stamp set.
I diecut the letters from some orange zest cardstock using my PTI Book Print uppercase alphabet dies.

For my journaling, I used the packaging from the Basic Grey
postage stamps & typed the journaling on my typewriter.

please link it either here in the comments or here on the PTI forum.

Using leftovers

Today, I have two cards to share, as well as a layout.

I made the two cards using some leftover Fresh Cut Floral die cuts that I had
stored with my dies.
where the challenge is to add dimension to our cards.

They're very similar, both using Fresh Cut Floral stamps & die cuts
and a sentiment from Funky Feathers.
I also used some PTI card stock, buttons & twine.
I heat embossed my sentiment with sea foam white embossing powder.

And, I have  a layout to share.

I came across my Create: Sketches book from last spring recently and remembered

Well, obviously that fell by the wayside a bit,
but I thought I'd continue with the challenge.
I was trying to remember why I'd stopped, when I noticed the next sketch:

It's a sketch where they want you to use a really large photo.
For a 12x12 layout, I'd have to use an 8x12" photo, which I didn't have.

However, I did find an 8x10 in my photos, so I decided to use it for my layout.

I used some Basic Grey patterned paper & embellishments.
I also used my PTI Book Print dies (uppercase & numbers) and some stamps from
my Destination stamp set.

If you create a layout using this sketch,
please link it here in my comments or here in the PTI forum.

Create: Sketches -- Sketch #6

I have a sketch and a layout to share today for Pages With Papertrey. The sketch I chose is the sixth one from the Create: Sketches book. (Sorry about the poor photo!)

And here's the layout I made using the sketch. I converted it to a 12x12 format and used lots of Crate Paper goodies on it.

I diecut some Crate patterned paper using my PTI Tag Sale #3 die. I added the American Crafts thickers to my tag and then stamped the rest of my title using PTI's new Antique Alphabet stamp set. (I traced a line in pencil first and then stamped my letters separately, starting with the "s" and working backwards.)

Some stitching, a few buttons and some twine finish everything off.

I also made a card using this sketch, again with some Crate Paper patterned paper. The tag is a PTI Fillable Frame #9 and the sentiment is from Happy Hexagons.

The flowers were stamped using WPlus9's Fresh Cut Florals stamps and dies.

Love this

Hey there! It's Friday, which means it's my day to post for Fresh Squeezed Stamps. Today, I'm sharing a beach layout. Beach photos are some of my favourite photos to scrapbook and as soon as I saw the Subway Series: Summer stamp set, I knew I wanted to use it on some layouts.

I also knew that it would be perfect for Sketch #4 from Create: Sketches:

This was a 8.5x11" layout, which I converted to a 12x12. I used some old Fancy Pants patterned paper from my stash, as well as an old ticket (I can't even remember who made this-- Jenni Bowlin maybe?) and a Freckled Fawn wooden word.

Here's a close up of the gorgeous Subway Series: Summer stamp, which I stamped on patterned paper and heat embossed in white. I also impressed it with my woodgrain impression plate. Behind the wooden word embellishment, I layered some stamped images from Breath of Fresh Flair.

To finish if off, I added some journaling on a ticket and added a stamped sailboat from Subway Series: Summer. I did a little masking to get it there. Oh, and that's a Tim Holtz paper clip.

Now, if you read my blog regularly, then you know I've been trying to make a layout and a card with each sketch from the Create: Sketches book. So, I want you to know that I did actually make a card with this sketch, too -- I posted it here on my blog last Friday. I flipped it 90 degrees and stamped the sentiment in three different colours. It might seem like a bit of a stretch, but honestly, it was inspired by the sketch. ;)

Create: Sketches -- Sketch #5

I created a layout and a card using the 5th sketch in the Create:Sketches book. Here's the sketch:

For my layout, I converted the sketch to 12x12. I pulled out some polka dot Crate Paper patterned paper for the Crate Paper June Creative Weekly Challenge: Hello, Polka Dots.

I added some Crate Paper slide frames. I used the two smaller ones to frame some sentiments from PTI's Live Love Life stamp set.

My title was cut from PTI's new leaf card stock, using PTI's Wonderful Words: Hello die and Headline Alphabets dies.

And for my card, I also used some Crate Paper patterned paper, minus the polka dots.

I diecut the banner using PTI's Get a Handle on It die. The sentiments are from Wplus9's Fresh Cut Florals stamp set. Some MME enamel dots finish it off.

Create: Sketches -- Sketch #3

Well, I had the day off today, so I decided to work on a card and a layout for Sketch #3 from Create: Sketches.

Here's the sketch:

And I'll start with the card, since I made it first. I used all Papertrey Ink products. I diecut and stamped the largest Friends Til The End bloom & the leaves with Versamark onto vellum cardstock and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. Then I took ink and Q-tips and coloured in the images, for this week's Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink: Coloured Vellum Flowers. I layered these onto some white cardstock that I impressed with my hexagon cover plate and inked with my Tim Holtz blending tool. I added a sentiment from Boutique Borders: Birthday, stamped onto a die cut double ended banner. I added some buttons and twine to finish it off (& to cover a bit of extra embossing powder. ;)  )

(Sorry for the blurry sentiment-- it looks much better in real life!)

And here's my layout, which I made using Fancy Pants patterned paper, diecuts and stickers.

For my title, I used the hello banner and added it to a wooden skewer to make a flag. I also added another banner that I cut with my PTI Get A Handle On It banner and my Modern Uppercase Alphabet dies. The skewer was quite thick, so I doubled-up my dimensional adhesive on the houndstooth patterned paper below it.

I was going to add the PTI Pedal Pusher bike, but it was bigger than mine in the photo, so I decided to use this Flair instead, along with a Fancy Pants sticker.

And I added two stickers to a round sticker on the sheet that said Happy Day.  And here's a close up of my journaling.

Create: Sketches -- Sketch #2

As I mentioned in this post, I'm challenging myself to create a layout and a card using each sketch in the Create: Sketches book from Northridge Publishing. So, today, I'm sharing the projects I made using Sketch 2.

So, firstly, here's the layout I made using the sketch. I was mostly inspired by the borders along the top and bottom of the page. I decided to switch the long banner they had along the top of the page to a smaller flag banner, for this week's Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink: Flagged Borders.

I used American Crafts cardstock and mostly Crate Paper patterned paper (the yellow and white chevron right under the title is MME).  I used my PTI double-ended banner die and get a handle on it banner die to diecut my flags. On the third flag, I stamped a sentiment from Waltzingmouse's My Island stamp set.

My title was stamped onto my layout using Ali Edwards' Incred stamp set by Technique Tuesday. I used a little Tim Holtz paper clip.

Here's a close-up of my journaling:

I used two more stamps from the WMS My Island set to create this embellishment, which I slipped under a Crate Paper slide frame.

And while I had my Crate Paper goodies still out on my table, I made a card using the sketch. Again, I focused on the borders along the top and bottom and made another flagged border using the same supplies as above. I stamped the sentiment from PTI's Movers & Shakers sentiments and added a few MME enamel dots to finish it off.

Five for Friday

 1. Austin's school is having a Work-a-thon this afternoon. Because Austin was slow on the draw to find somewhere to work, he's working for me. LOL! So far, he's dusted and vaccuumed and washed the floor on his hands and knees. Currently he's washing window. What a great day!

2. Jonah, Sage & I are testing tomorrow for taekwondo. Jonah and Sage are testing for their 1st poom (junior black belts) and I'm testing for my 2nd Dan. I have butterflies in my stomach when I think about it, but I'm thinking it will go well.

3. After the test, we're having Austin's birthday party. He's invited a few friends over for pizza and then we're going to go see Iron Man 3. I can't wait... it should be fun!

I asked Austin what kind of cake he wanted me to make... and he picked a dragon. He gave me a picture to work with and this is what I made this morning:

He was thrilled with it, which made me happy.

4. I wanted to share a challenge that I'm making for myself...

The past couple of years, I've participated with the Sketchbook classes taught by Kelly Purkey. Well, there wasn't a new sketchbook class this year, so I decided to purchase the Create: Sketches book from Northridge Publishing. I'm challenging myself to create a layout and a card using each sketch in the book, starting with Sketch 1.

Here's the layout I made, using some Bazzill cardstock and Crate Paper patterned paper, stickers and diecuts. I cut the title out on my Silhouette.

I used my new PTI Big Ticket Basics stamp and die to make this embellishment, to which I added some PTI buttons and twine. I stamped on the sticker with my date stamp and Versafine ink.

Here's my journaling, which explains my thrill about dunking Austin in the dunk tank last Canada Day.

5. And Jonah's invited to a birthday party tomorrow, so here's the card that I made for his friend, using the sketch. I used some Crate Paper, Echo Park and My Mind's Eye patterned paper, as well as a PTI stamp (from Boy Basics: Game On) and the banner die from Get a Handle on it.
