12 Days of Christmas Tags -- Day 8
I made some Butter Crunch for Jonah & Sage's phys. ed. teachers this year... and thought I'd share the recipe here:
Butter Crunch:
35 to 40 saltine crackers (unsalted works well, too)
1 cup butter (or margarine)
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1.5 cups chocolate chips
1/4 to 1/3 cup toffee pieces (like skor pieces or bits o'brickle)
Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and grease it. Line the foil with crackers, cutting them in half if necessary to cover the pan.
In a pot, bring butter and brown sugar to a boil over medium heat. Boil for 4 minutes stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour over crackers and spread it out evenly.
Bake at 350F for 8 minutes. Remove from oven and top with chocolate chips. Let the chocolate chips melt and then spread them evenly over the surface. Sprinkle toffee pieces over top. Put in fridge for several hours. Remove from fridge and remove foil backing. Cut into pieces. Store in fridge, with waxed paper between the layers.
And even though the butter crunch is perfectly fine on its own, I decided to dress up the bags with some tags using this week's Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink: any die into a folded tag.
I used Papertrey Ink cardstock (rustic white), stamps (Holiday Lights) and die (tag sale #5). For the inside, I used my Fillable Frames #9 stamps.
I used some glossy accents on the lights to give them a little shine.
Thanks for looking!

You know I love that tag! I'm feeling guilty because after I got my set, I stamped till' my hearts content and made all my Christmas cards... and then never got them out. Speaking of, thank you so much for the picture and newsletter :) What a fabulous idea! I loved it. Merry Christmas, Leigh and family
Yummy recipe Leigh! These tags were a fabulous idea to add to your homemade goodies! Have a wonderful holiday!!
Love your tag and such a clean, bright blog! You've put together really great gifts and wonderful presentations.
How embarrassing - we used the same shape (just kidding!)- they're so cute!
Love the tags. They are so bright & cheerfulf. The recipe looks yummy. Maybe, I'll get a chance to make some over the break. Love the idea as having the cracker as a base.
Bet you those treats don't make it home, althought the packaging is too beautiful to unwrap.
Yum, Yum! :) Loving your tags. Always inspired by your creativity and now your sweets! Thanks for sharing. Hope you and your family have a safe and happy holiday!
What a beautiful tag, and a sweet gift. I am about to attempt home made English Toffee today, for the first time. If I don't burn down the house, I'll post pictures, ha ha! I think I like tags this way for all future tags. It's so nice to have a little place tucked away for the message.
Super cute tags, and the Butter Crunch looks REALLY yummy!
