Create Together with Marcie Sharp -- Take Two

As I shared two weeks ago, I was invited by Marcie Sharp, to play along with her
Create Together -- Creative Collaboration Challenge this month.
My cards that I made for the first challenge are here.

Marcie chose the inspiration last time and
said that I could choose our inspiration piece for this week.
Here's what I picked:

Isn't it fabulous?
I decided to use my Essentials by Ellen Mondo Hydrangea stamp set
and some Papertrey Ink text patterned paper to make my card.

I stamped it in dark chocolate onto my aqua mist cardstock background,
as well as onto the text patterned paper.
Using my craft knife, I cut out the hydrangea stamped on the text paper,
starting with the pieces on the inside and finishing with the outside edge.
I did the same for the leaf and adhered the fussy cut pieces to my card.
It's had to tell in the photo, but inspired by the white leaves in the inspiration photo,
I coloured in the flower centres with a paintbrush and white acrylic paint.

I stamped my sentiment (from PTI Songbirds) in dark chocolate as well,
and adhered my panel to a vintage cream base.

And, then, when I was typing out my piece, I decided
that I really wanted to make a second card -- this time using a tree.
So I pulled out my PTI Mighty Oak cover plate and some
of the same PTI text paper...

I diecut the tree and leaves from the text paper and some white cardstock.

I diecut the banner from dark chocolate cardstock using PTI's
double-ended banner dies and heat embossed my sentiment
(from PTI's KIS: Birthday) in white.

Don't forget to hop over and visit Marcie's blog to see what she created

Thanks for looking!

Leigh: gorgeous, inspired and ingenious, both! The text certainly adds impact to your design, as do the white leaves in the second card! You and Marce: a dynamic duo of creativity!

These are great Leigh! Both cards are beautiful, but that second one is exactly what I envisioned when I saw the inspiration piece. :) Thanks so much for joining me this month.

These are awesome, Leigh! I love text print, so I am all about the inspiration photo you chose, and you did an amazing job with it. LOVE the hydrangea. Fabulous fussy cutting on that one. And LOVE how the tree turned out, too. The mix of text print and crisp white looks perfect!

Awesome cards! I'm just loving the text. I think I'll have to pull out every text paper and every tree/leaf product I own and get to work. Tfs! :)

Love both cards, Leigh! I, too, like to do the little accents, so especially like the acrylic paint in the centers of the flowers on the first card :)

Hello, Leigh! I love both the cards you show today! Using the text paper for an image is something I'd like to try. The aqua and pale green are both very nice with the flower and tree. :)

The type paper gives such a unique and artsy look to the hydrangea - and tree - Leigh. Maybe it's the same paper but the looks are so different.
