Fabulous.

I wanted to see if I could create a layout for this week's Make it Monday at Papertrey Ink: Decreasing Apertures. It was actually a little tricky, because of the size of the papers for trying to run them through my Cuttlebug.

So I had to get a little creative. Nothing wrong with that!

Here's what I made:


I used Papertrey cardstock (leaf green, kraft and soft stone), stamps (Wonderful Words), impression plate (Woodgrain) and dies (Half & Half & Seeing Stars.)

Pretty simple, but I'm happy with it.

A card and a layout

I made the following card for this week's Make it Monday at Papertrey Ink: Decreasing Apertures , as well as for Vannessa's Papertrey Princess Challenge: to make either a "hot" or "cold" colour card.

I decided to go with hot. ;)

I decided to make a card for my daughter, just a little something to tell her how delightful and fabulous I think she is, thinking specifically of something that happened yesterday...

Here's the story:

I had gotten a thank you card from my pastor for translating the sermon for a congolese pastor who came to visit our church several weeks ago. When I showed the card to Sage, she exclaimed: “That’s a Christmas card!” because, well, it was, complete with pine bough and gold bow.

Well, last night, I was making a set of thank you cards and showed them to Sage. She asked who they were for and I said “Pastor Konrad.” To which she immediately said: “Because of the Christmas thank you card?”

LOL! We are so in sync, I love it!

Then she topped it off by adding: “If someone gave me a Christmas card for my birthday, I’d kill them!” (Which sounds terribly harsh, but your facial expression and the way you said it was just absolutely priceless!)

So here's the card:


I used Papertrey Ink cardstock (hibiscus burst, stamper's select white and kraft), stamps (Wonderful Words) and dies (Mat Stack #5 & Hanging Out.) I also used Crate patterned paper.

And then, as I was thinking about it, I thought: "Sage now has a card to remember this by..... but I want to remember it, too. I'd better make a layout."

So, I did. :)

I used the left over Mat stack that was punched out of the hisbiscus burst cardstock for the card and the "you are fabulous banner that I messed up on the one side, but it worked to trim it down.


I used all the same product, except I added the PTI Summer Sunrise cardstock.

Guess who turned nine today...

4. He is a great big brother to Sage.

7. He can do a front flip on a trampoline.


8. He was nominated for an award when he tested for his green belt at taekwondo last night.


9. He is just so very wonderful.

I used Papertrey Ink cardstock (soft stone, orange zest and hawaiian shores), stamps (boy basics: game on) and dies (mat stack #1 & seeing stars.)

MIM #25 -- attempt #2

Here's my second attempt at this week's Make it Monday at Papertrey Ink: Decreasing Apertures.

In continuing with my "birthday theme" I made this card for Austin's best friend, Soren, who turned 12 yesterday:


I used Papertrey Ink cardstock (vintage cream), stamps (Boy Basics: Game On & Simple Circles) & dies (seeing stars). I also used My Mind's Eye patterned paper.

MIM #25 -- attempt #1

*I'm editing this post to add that I think this is the ugliest card that I ever made! I wasn't happy with it when I was done and I only posted it in the hopes that I would win that week's MIM (which, obviously is a random draw! LOL!

Here's my first attempt at this week's Make it Monday at Papertrey Ink: Decreasing Apertures.

I had never tried this technique before and found it quite fun.

It's a busy weekend birthday-wise for us this weekend, so I've made a few birthday cards. Here's the first one, which I will be giving to my taekwondo instructor today. (I meant to give it to her last night at our colour belt promotion test, but I forgot-- that seems to happen to me a lot. I love making cards but forget to hand them out!)

I used PTI cardstock (stamper's select white), stamps (text style I, Tranquility Trinity & Communique Sentiments) & die (mat stack #5). I also used a Tim Holtz Alterations die, Prima Flowers, Fancy Pants and My Mind's Eye patterned paper and My Mind's Eye brads.
