Project 366, week 11

When I mentioned posting my photos of the day last week to a friend, she asked me: "Are you getting tired of it yet?"

My answer: no, not really.

Sure there is the odd day where I'll think, with a sigh, I have to remember to take a picture today.

But most days, it's like the project has given me permission to take photos every day. Something I really enjoy doing.

An added bonus is that I've been really happy with some of the shots I've gotten (well, quite a lot of them actually) and I'm thinking without the challenge, I would have been too lazy to get off my butt, locate my camera and take the picture.

So, I think it's been good.

My family, on the other hand... ;)

Actually, I didn't think they minded me take their photos so often, but I guess last week when Anita came over, she grabbed my camera to take a picture of Sage and Jorja together, but my memory card wasn't in it, so she couldn't. She must have said something like "Oh, I can't take your picture."

To which Sage replied, "That's okay, because my mom takes my picture all...day...long." :)

Okay, on to my photos of the day for the past week:

Tuesday, March 11: Sage was enjoying looking at the scrapbook that I made two years ago when she was 1 1/2. (And as I looked at it with her, I thought: "I don't regret creating a single one of these pages." -- such a good feeling!)

Wednesday, March 12: My dining room table, while I was working on the invitations for the Booth College graduation barbecue-- I love sitting in the sun that shines through my new dining room window.

Thursday, March 13: Jonah and a classmate enjoying Jonah's first ever kindergarten play date at our house. It's so cool when they transition from being friends with my friends' kids to choosing friends of their own. These two were a bundle of energy together.

Friday, March 14: The Easter eggs that Sage and I decorated together. If you missed my instructions for these, you can click here.

Saturday, March 15: I displayed my eggs in a basket on my dining room table. There have only been a few casualties so far. ;)

Sunday, March 16: Cameron, caught napping on our couch.

Monday, March 17: I thought this photo was cool with the photographs on the wall behind Sage.

So, I'm thinking that I need to start getting out more, because all of these photos were taken in my living room! LOL! (Oh well, that's pretty much my life right now as we wait for spring to come. ;) )

To prove that I actually did leave my house this week, I'm ending off with a photo from our church's Palm Sunday service on Sunday morning. Cameron actually took this one, because I was downstairs leading worship for R.O.X., so unfortunately, I missed it. :(

Tagged

I was tagged by my friend, Heather, to share 7 random facts about myself. So here goes...

1. I wore braces for three years, in junior and senior high, and a retainer for another two. I stopped wearing the retainer though and my lower teeth have shifted back to how they were.

2. I loved high school-- everything about it. The classes, the teachers, hanging out with my friends everyday-- it was great.

3. I cannot wait for spring! We went for a walk this morning and seeing patches of grass here and there almost made me giddy.

4. Last week, I got an order from Booth College in Winnipeg to make 100 invitations for their graduation barbecue. They wanted a Celtic theme.
5. I went out for coffee with my friend Darlene for her birthday last night. We had great time-- as usual. I'm so thankful for the friends that God has blessed me with. :)
6. I'm going to be in a play for our Good Friday service at the rec centre this week. It's quite funny but has a serious ending. It should be good.
7. Lately, I'm addicted to playing Scrabulous and Scramble on Facebook.
If you're reading this, consider yourself tagged and play along. :)

Online crop layouts

It's our monthly online crop at MSS this weekend. Here are the layouts that I made...

My challenge was to scraplift yourself: find a layout in your albums that you love and scraplift it. Here's the layout I made

which was a scraplift of this one:

I did this one for Liz's sketch and Marcy's challenge to use 5 different patterned paper, buttons and a stamp:

I did this one for Marcy's challenge to use grey, paint and three photos:

I got this one done this afternoon for Marcy's challenge to use red, something transparent and circles:

Easter Eggs

This month at MSS, it was my turn to post a project. I thought that it would be fun to make Easter eggs using some of my scrapbooking stash. Sage, as always, was a great helper.

We dyed the eggs on Thursday evening. On Friday afternoon, we decorated them with ribbon,

patterned paper and punches,

and buttons.

For more instructions, you can click here.

Also, MSS is having its monthly online crop this weekend, so if you want to check out some fun challenges, click here.

I'll post my layout for the crop later. :)

Picture wall

On Friday, Kristel dropped off the pictures that I ordered from our portrait session last month.

So on Saturday, I made this:

It's over the couch in our living room. I love it! It totally makes me happy!

Project 366, week 10

Wow, ten weeks already! Here are the photos that I've taken every day for the last week:

Tuesday, March 4: Austin stays at school for lunch on Tuesdays because he participates in noon hour voluntary choir. So I usually bring him a lunch when I pick up Jonah. Austin's favourite: grilled cheese sandwiches.

Wednesday, March 5: On Wednesday afternoons for five weeks, I've been volunteering in Austin's class after lunch. My mother-in-law came to our house to watch Jonah and Sage so I could go.

Thursday, March 6: Sage and Jonah watching the skaters during the CanSkate wrap-up.

Friday, March 7: I love that Sage is still "baby" enough to fall asleep in the van sometimes.

Saturday, March 8: bath time.

Sunday, March 9: Austin playing "Seek Ye First" at the sacred evening for the Morden Festival of the Arts. He did so well-- I was very proud of him!

Monday, March 10: Jonah presenting the mini-hockey stick that I bought him last week. It's a San Jose Sharks one and Jonah discovered that all of the letters of his first name are on it (so cute!)

Any favourites?

Can Skate Wrap-up

For the past few years, the volunteers in CanSkate have planned a carnival with which they finish off their season. Usually there's a theme and the kids practice a routine, which they present to music, while wearing costumes. It's always super cute!

Two years ago, it was Grease and Austin skated to Hey Mickey.

Last year, it was a Reality TV theme, and both Jonah and Austin skated to the theme song from Survivor, while completing a "course".

This year, unfortunately, they didn't have a carnival. (They'd booked the ice last year for the 23rd, unaware that the 23rd would be Easter Sunday.) So, instead, they had a wrap-up evening, where the kids skated in their groups and showed off their skills. It was well done.

I'm amazed at the sense of pride & joy that I feel when I watch my kids do something well. It's such a great feeling!

Secret Keeper & other stuff

Included in the Red Star March kit from MSS was an Urban Lily Secret Keeper. (I didn't know what it was when I first got my kit-- I had to ask the other DT members so they could tell me!)

It's cool though. I used it to make a birthday card for my friend, Darlene. (Her birthday isn't until the 17th, but I don't thing she reads my blog, so it will probably stay a secret. ;) Ooh, good one!)

Other stuff...

I got an email last week from Memory Makers magazine requesting two of my layouts for publication in an upcoming idea book. :)

My mom "hired" me to make an album using my older brother's baby pictures. This morning, I picked up this, but in 8.5x11", some of these in black vinyl, a few of these patterned papers and these, so I want to start working on it soon.

I'm in the process of tidying up my scrap space-- I'm in purge mode! We have our Super Scrap Day coming up at MSS on April 12th and for the past several crops, we've set up a "garage sale" to get rid of our old supplies. Then we can go and purchase new supplies. It's such a win-win situation. :)

The kids have their skating wind-up tonight. I was so excited on Monday evening-- Sage got her level two badge, Jonah his level three badge and Austin got his level six badges. I'm especially happy for Austin, as this is his last year in skating and now he's completed the CanSkate program.

Well, I'm off to pick up Austin from school.

Project 366, week 9

Here are my photos-of-the-day for the past week:

Tuesday, February 26: Jonah & Sage having way too much fun at Stay & Play.

Wednesday, February 27: The Star Wars Monopoly game that stayed set up on our dining room table all week.

Thursday, February 28: signing out books at the public library.

Friday, February 29: having lunch (McD's-- yum!) at Susan's.

Saturday, March 1: we had some new friends over for supper. I can always tell that I'm going to be good friends with someone when they say those six wonderful words: "Can I look at your scrapbooks?" ;)

Sunday, March 2: My friend Darlene (centre) sang with a group called Prairie Singers in a concert on Sunday afternoon: Songs of Lent and Liberation.

Monday, March 3: One of my least favourite (but necessary) chores: patching holes in jeans.

And here is the layout that I got done for my Leap Day Challenge:

March

I could hardly contain my joy this morning as I tore off the February page from my calendar. Maybe because March means the end of winter and the beginning of spring (hopefully!) I don't know. But I'm just plain old happy it's here. :)

And March means a new Red Star Kit at MSS and it's very colourful and fun-- perfect for spring!

With it I created a mini-book for Jonah...

...and eight layouts:
