Friday Goodness

Well, with the pile of snow that got dumped here yesterday (after the freezing rain) that had me shoveling this morning for over 1.5 hours, it's really nice to have a warm, cozy house to scrapbook in this evening. :)

So, it's the perfect time for an online crop, which they're having at My Scrap Shoppe this evening. You can check out the challenges here.

I issued an early bird challenge earlier in the week to use a rebus on your layout. You can check out the details here. This was my layout for the challenge:

The challenge I posted this evening was an ad inspiration challenge, using this ad for inspiration:

Here's the layout I did for the challenge:

Please feel free to come and join us for a fun weekend of scrapping goodness!

My December Daily Album

Well, I'm happy to say that I completed my December Daily Album yesterday. It was inspired by Ali Edwards and you can find the links to her album here, here and here.

I decided to make my album using 2 pieces of 6x6 chipboard for the covers, which I covered with Making Memories flocked patterned paper.

The album is made up of Making Memories Fa-la-la patterened paper and die cuts, as well as pieces of patterned paper from my scraps (Chatterbox, Stampin' Up!, Basic Grey, Scenic Route, 7 Gypsies, Cosmo Cricket & Autumn Leaves), some Making Memories Notebook pages, a 7 Gypsies journaling card, and some Autumns Leaves, Making Memories and Pink Paislee stamps.
(You can click on the images to view them larger.)

Some ideas to note:

1. I made 31 pages in my album to cover the whole month.

2. I plan on adding in photos and my journaling throughout the month.

3. Day 26 is a Marjolein Bastin Christmas card that I received from a friend years ago. I just used the front of the card, which didn't have writing on the back. That's where I'll journal that day.

4. I photocopied a sheet of music from my son's Christmas piano book onto Travertine cardstock and cut it to to 5.5x6" pieces to add for days 13 & 29.

5. For days 5, 11, 17, 24, 27 & 31, I created the journaling cards in Word using text boxes and Auto Shapes, then printed them out on Travertine and Kraft cardstock. (I printed it on the back of the Travertine cardstock, so the surface would be smoother for journaling.)

6. For day 9, I created a little door that opens to reveal the journaling by adhering the number paper onto the journaling paper, which had a folded lip.

I think that's it.

More scrappy stuff to share

So you can just skip this post, Trevor!
(My brother informed me the other day that he loves my blog, but that he skips over the scrappy stuff. LOL!)

Well, to start, I got an email from Layle Koncar from the Scenic Route Paper Co. yesterday, informing me that I won their October Product Challenge!! Yay! The layout they chose is my "Home is Where You Are" layout that you can see here.

Next up, the layouts that I made this month with the November kit at MSS:

Such a great kit. I love how Marcy always makes them so diverse and yet they work well together. She has such a gift for that!
Thanks for looking and for all your encouraging comments! I love reading them all!

Project 366, week 44

Wow, only ten weeks left in 2008!
Here are my photos of the day for the past week:

Tuesday, October 28: Sage's pumpkin that we carved after school.

Wednesday, October 29: My little angel in a Dora jacket, on her way to Storytime at the library.

Thursday, October 30: my little crocodile helping his little sister (the sunflower) get a drink from the fountain after skating lessons.

Friday, October 31: My kiddoes in their costumes.

Saturday, November 1: I kicked the kids outside in the afternoon and what do they do? Rake my front yard! Of course after jumping in the leaves and the leaf-fight that broke out shortly afterwards, you couldn't really tell anymore that they'd raked it! LOL!

Sunday, November 2: A gorgeous day! We biked to the park to play and I shot this photo of Jonah on his way to the bike trails.

Monday, November 3: It was another gorgeous day out, so I worked in our front yard, cutting back my perennials for winter. Sage amused herself with a mini-skateboard and the gourd Austin decorated at school.

Thanks for looking!

*Also, on the MSS blog, the DT have started taking turns posting each week and I'm up first! You can check out my post here.

Fabulous news!!

I am the November Guest Design Team member for Create My Keepsake!

I was so thrilled when I found out!!!

I'll be working with the fabulous DT there, using some Jenni Bowlen products that you can see here.

Woohoo!!

Halloween fun

Well, on Tuesday, I tried to do a scan of my computer because my Internet explorer wasn't working well (it was freezing up all the time.) So, once the scan was done and the system restarted, it couldn't open up my windows. :(

So, I had to bring it in and $100+ dollars later, my baby is home again.

(It's crazy how much I use the computer during the day!)

Anyway, so I've got a bunch of pictures to share from our week.

On Tuesday, we carved pumpkins. (I set up the tripod and took some pictures with the timer so I could be in the pictures for a change.)

The before.

The during. (The kids help scoop out the seeds and draw the faces on the pumpkins and then I carve.)

Austin cut off the top of his own pumpkin.
(I was quite pleased with how responsible he was being.)

The afters: Jonahs' crocodile.

Sage's kitty.

The completed pumpkins including my queen and "Austin's" bat (he instructed me to draw and cut out a bat while he went outside to play.)

All lit up.

And here are our halloween costumes. The kids dressed up after lunch to go to school.

Austin was a mad scientist, Sage, a cowgirl and Jonah, a crocodile.
And for trick or treating after supper, Sage switched to a sunflower and I joined them, by dressing up as a pioneer.

Such a fun week (and tons of treats to boot!)
