CAS(E) This Sketch #124

Today, I have a card to share that I made for

 CAS(E) This Sketch #124 designed by Chirssy Larson:



Here's my card:



Can you see it?

Do you see how the buildings form the word "hi"?

I'm really happy with how it turned out!

I started by using post-it notes to mask my word.

Then, starting from the bottom, I stamped the buildings from PTI's City Scene 

in PTI's soft stone & CTMH's slate.

Then, using more pot-it notes, I masked off the buildings I'd stamped and stamped more.
I continued this way until I reached the top.

And that sweet little kitty?

 He was just so perfect to perch on the cross bar of the "H"!

He's from Mama Elephant's Three Amigos stamp set.

I stamped him in Versafine onyx black and heat embossed him in clear.

Then, I pressed some summer sunrise ink onto an acrylic block, spritzed it with water

and used a paintbrush to paint him in.

The Card Concept #35

Today, I have a card to share that I made for 

The Card Concept #35: Frilly & Fabulous

using some Reverse Confetti products.

As soon as I saw the inspiration photo, I thought of the 

sweet little spoon die in the Love & Ice Cream Confetti Cuts.

So,  I decided to substitute some ice cream cups for the cupcakes.

Here's my card:

I used some Bazzill Basics Pale Rose cardstock to matte my card.

Then, I used some Bazzill Basics CS White cardstock, over which I layered

a doily and some Crate Paper patterned paper.

I stamped the stripes from Fancy Words on some CS White cardstock

and diecut them with the cup die from Love & Ice Cream Confetti Cuts.

I topped the cups with some Bazzill Basics Pale Rose, Butter Cream & Candy Hearts

diecut with the Love & Ice Cream Confetti Cuts.

I diecut the three spoons from some Bazzill Platinum specialty paper.

For my sentiment, I diecut the Beautiful Banners Confetti Cuts

from some Butter Cream cardstock and stamped it using the Beautiful Banners stamps.

I had a hard time coming up with my card's style, but I think

it's Clean & Layered.

Sketchbook: Sketch 3

I signed up for Kelly Purkey's Sketchbook class at Studio Calico

and, this weekend, I made a layout and a card using the sketch.

I'm not allowed to post the sketch here on my blog,

but here are my projects.

Here's the layout I made for Sketch 3:

I decided to do a "currently" layout for Sage and used PTI's Slide Frame die

with six different shades of Bazzill Basics cardstock: Robin's Egg, Pale Rose,

Lollipop, Cotton Candy, Turquoise Mist & Rock Candy.

I adhered them all to a piece of 12x12 Bazzill Basics Classic White cardstock, which I 

trimmed down to 11 5/8x 11 5/8" and matted on some Robin's Egg.

I also stamped on each frame, using either my Kelly Purkey stamp set

that I got when I signed up for the class or PTI's Slide Frame stamp set.

Here are some close ups:

For my title, I stamped it using PTI's Wet Paint Alphabet stamp set.

A trio of enamel dots finishes it off.

For my card, I used the same colours of cardstock along with a Pretty Pink Posh stitched die.

I diecut the fox from PTI's Wee One Mini Kit and 

stamped the sentiments from the coordinating stamp set.

Sketchbook: Sketch 2

I signed up for Kelly Purkey's Sketchbook class at Studio Calico

and, this weekend, I made a layout and a card using the sketch.

I'm not allowed to post the sketch here on my blog,

but here are my projects.

Here's the layout I made for Sketch 2:

I used some Crate Paper (pink stripes) & October Afternoon (blue bokeh)

patterned paper, as well as a We R Memory Keepers journaling card.

I used some Fancy Pants alphabet stickers for the title.

This was all adhered to a piece of 12x12 Bazzill Basics Classic White cardstock.

I had fun stamping my own embellishments using PTI's Simply Framed stamp set

onto my Bazzill Basics Classic White cardstock!

For this last embellishment, I created a piece of cardstock that can be pulled out

to reveal the journaling.

I decided to use the PTI Wee One MIM Mini kit to make my card:

I diecut the bird and deer from patterned paper that came in the kit.

I stamped the frame and sentiment and added an aqua mist button

with button twine to finish it off.

Muse Challenge #117

This afternoon, I made a card for the current Muse Challenge,

which is a card that was made by my talented friend, Michele Ferguson:

I was inspired by the three decorated squares across the card,

as well as the colours Michele used.

Here's my card:

As soon as I saw Michele's card, I thought of my PTI Lovely Layers stamp set.

So I stamped the image from Lovely Layers three times across this 

gorgeous coloured Bazzill Basics Pale Rose cardstock

and heat embossed it in gold.

For some reason, the images didn't want to heat emboss as clearly as usual

and some of the powder seemed to blow off and settled on my cardstock,

but it created a fine splattered effect, so I just decided to go with it. ;)

I stamped my sentiment (from SSS's Congratulations stamp set)
in versafine onyx black in and added a few enamel dots to finish it off.
I matted my card on a piece of Bazzill Basics Classic White cardstock.

Inspired by Pinterest

Today, I have a card to share that I was inspired to make
after seeing this photo on Pinterest:

I love the beautiful pink blooms, which got me thinking about

the pretty shades of pink in the Chickaniddy Crafts Twirly Girly Collection.

So, I grabbed my PTI Mighty Oak coverplate, some Goldie Lox foil

and some Twirly Girly patterned paper and made this card:

I diecut the coverplate from white cardstock and removed all of the leaves and the trunk.

I adhered this to a folded piece of white cardstock that became my card base.

I diecut the Goldie Lox foil using the coverplate and inserted the trunk and some of the leaves 

into the empty spaces on my card.

I diecut the solid pink and berry leaves from the 12x12 Itty Bitty Ballerina patterned paper, and the patterned leaves from Piggy Tales, Birthday Girl and one sheet of the Twirly Girly 6x6 paper pad.

The Goldie Lox foil diecuts like a dream and looks fabulous on my card!

4For my banner, I diecut another piece of 12x12 Itty Bitty Ballerina patterned paper, using
PTI's Songbirds die and stamped on it twice using the sentiment from the Twirly Girly Clear Stamp set.
All I did was curve the sentiment slightly before stamping it.
I adhered it to my card, using regular adhesive, but placing a piece of foam adhesive near the trunk
to add a little dimension.

Five for Friday

1. Our events from last Saturday went well:

Jonah & Sage did really well at their 2nd Poom belt test.

Normally, the people testing for black belts get called up a few

times during the test, but Jonah & Sage's group only got called up once.

Our instructor said that the masters must have seen all

they needed to see & felt that their group was well prepared.

Here are Sage & Jonah, along with Jonah's best friend, Josh.

They all train together and it was great to see them test (& pass) together, too!

Austin's party was a success.

He'd invited three friends over for pizza and then we went

to see Avengers Age of Ultron in the theatre, which was very good.

2. Last night, we went to see the Grade 5 musical: The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf.

It's was fabulous!

Sage had a great role -- she played Weasel Too, one of the Big Bad Wolf's attorneys.

Doesn't she look adorable?

Her character got to say lots of big words -- that's what drew Sage to the part!

And she also got to sing and dance!

She's been so excited about this part -- I've been getting updates every day

on the rehearsals, songs, dance numbers, etc, that I think she's disappointed that it's all over now.

3. An update in my healthy eating plan:

It's been over 4 weeks and so far, I've lost 6 pounds!

What has really helped me:  I got a new accountability partner.

After our shopping trip and a little frustration finding clothes that fit her well,

Sage decided that she too would cut out sugar, deep-fried foods and snacking after supper.

She has done so well! Together, we've lost 13 lbs.

and I can tell how much better she's feeling about herself!

4. I made a card for the last Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Travel On:

I was a little off on the dates (I thought I had another week before the deadline!),

so while I didn't post this in time for the challenge,

 I thought I'd share it anyway.

I inked up my PTI World Map stamp with spring rain, blueberry sky, 

limeade ice & simply chartreuse inks  and then spritzed it with water before stamping.

I love the watercolour effect the spritzing gives!

For my sentiment, I did the smooshing technique on some white cardstock

with some blueberry sky ink & diecut my SSS Sending die from it.

Then, I diecut it twice more and layered them together.

The "birthday wishes" was stamped in versamark onto a strip of simply chartreuse

cardstock and heat embossed in white (it's from PTI's KIS: Belated Birthday).

I stamped the postmark (from a Sweet & Sassy stamp set) in spring rain

and the camera (from PTI's Summer Camp) in limeade ice, which was stamped off first.

Today, I have a card to share that I made for

 CAS(E) This Sketch #123 designed by Lesley Croghan:

Here's my card:

I made this card for one of the girls in my Sunday School group & I'm really pleased with how this turned out!

I stamped the sentiments from Sweet Thing in versafine onyx black on a piece of PTI patterned paper.

I diecut the popsicles using Let's Chill Confetti Cuts from sweet blush, berry sorbet

and classic kraft cardstock and then stamped those diecuts in the same colour inks

using Let's Chill stamp set.
