PTI July Blog Hop

Today is the Papertrey Ink blog hop and this month, Nichole challenged us not only with another beautiful inspiration photo, but also with a colour challenge.

I knew as soon as I saw the photo that I wanted to use my new stamps, The Sweet Life, on my project. However, I was a little stumped as to how...

Then, I was checking out the new CHA products on Two Peas yesterday and came across this gorgeous sheet of patterned paper by My Mind's Eye and took my inspiration from it as well.

I loved how the flowers were groups with several of each colour together, so I decided to try to recreate it for my card:

I stamped several of my trio of roses using different colour combos of Melon Berry, Berry Sorbet, Harvest Gold and Summer Sunrise. I had to selectively ink a few of them to get a single rose here and there. This set is so fun to play with-- you can stamp off colours for the first stamp or leave them full strength to get different effects!

I used PTI cardstock (simply chartreuse, rustic white), stamps (the sweet life, think big favourites #3), buttons, twine and dies (limitless layers ovals 2.25").

I was also inspired to create a layout for the hop:

I used Heidi Swapp patterned paper and Papertrey ink stamps (the sweet life) and dies (the sweet life, modern alphabet uppercase, happy day).

Here are a few close-ups:

For my rose, I stamped it with Harvest Gold, then Harvest Gold again and the third stamp was Summer Sunrise. The leaves were stamped with Ripe Avocado (stamped off the first time) and then Ripe Avocado (full strength).

I created my title using the the negative from these dies-- I love this technique and I am loving these new dies!

Thanks for looking!

You are doing gorgeous things with that stamp set, Leigh. I love your layout with the combination of soft and strong. The photo of Sage is precious. With such a cute face as inspiration it is no wonder that your pages always have such a warmth (loveliness/caring) to them.

Both of your projects are really lovely. You are inspiring me with that new stamp set, which I just got in my hot little hands late last night, so haven't had a chance to touch yet. How clever to make a card and a layout, and to group those roses by color.

You have such a beautiful (and hard to pull off) simple style. Congratulations; you really stepped out of your box to create these two fabulous pieces. They are busy but really work. (NOTE to self: See how fabulously simple cards work. Take a spin outside of your box.)

Mat Stack 5 is stunning. I bought it for Nichole's goo-gaws (what do you call those ornaments?), and have ended up loving everything in the set! It's right in line with your sensibilities I think.
