A Friday evening post

It's finally here!

This weekend is Stamp-a-faire at Papertrey Ink, an online stamping event. I was invited to join a group of women getting together in Minneapolis this weekend, but surprisingly enough, I couldn't convince Cameron that this would be a good idea. ;)

So, I will be participating online. :)

A friend of mine has said that she will maybe join me tomorrow afternoon, which will be great. But other than that, I'm looking forward to stamping, making some new projects and hanging out online with my PTI friends!

So, to start, we were encouraged to make and eat S'mores this evening. Cameron and I have spend the last couple of weeks working on the backyard and building a deck and patio. Well, tonight seemed like the perfect evening to have our first wiener-roast followed by some s'mores for dessert! Here are some photos I snapped of the "event."

Austin's s'mores looked so good!

Sage insisted on roasting her own marshmallows...

Jonah didn't make a s'more-- like almost everything else, he likes his marshmallows plain.

Tonight, we made our s'mores with Mr. Christie Triple Chocolate Chunk Cookies and a roasted marshmallow.

And, with my no-sugar diet, I didn't have a s'more, but very much enjoyed watching my family devour theirs. I had some watermelon instead. ;)

So, in preparing for this weekend's event, I had the kids help me clean the basement. My scrap table is still a little cluttered, because I wanted to get these projects that I started for another attempt at this week's  Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink: Roll the Dice Challenge completed. I forgot to take a photo of the post-it note with my results, so I'll just type them here:

I rolled:

A horizontal card
Sketch #4
Happy Hexagons stamp set
Think Big Favourites #12 stamp set
My colour combo was scarlet jewel, hawaiian shores and summer sunrise.
And my embellishment waslimitless layers oval dies.

So, here's the card I made with these items:

I used PTI cardstock (rustic white, hawaiian shores and summer sunrise), stamps (Happy Hexagons stamp set, Think Big Favourites #12 stamp set), buttons, twine and dies (happy hexagon coverplate, limitless layers oval dies, double-ended banner dies).

And here is the layout I made with this combination, making a slight substitution of tag sale #5 die for the  limitless layers oval dies (I actually forgot to add them! Ooops!)

I also made this layout for My Mind's Eye's July Challenge: halfway there, where we were challenged to scrapbook Day 183 of the year (a.k.a. July 1st) which marks the halfway mark of 2012. Here's the layout I created:

I used My Mind's Eye patterned paper and chipboard numbers. I also used PTI cardstock (rustic white, scarlet jewel), stamps (Happy Hexagons stamp set, Think Big Favourites #12 stamp set), and dies (tag sale #5). I made the MME chipboard numbers a little more pink by inking them with some Hibiscus Burst ink. The little flowers stamped beside them is from Happy Hexagons. The "day" was selectively inked from TBF#12. Also, I went to stitch around my layout quickly after our wiener-roast and before our bike ride, so I could get a photo in the daylight, and my bobbin was out of thread.... so I just sewed around the edges without thread.

Here's a close-up of my journaling:

Thanks for looking!
