Monthly Moments -- January

I shared several weeks ago (click!) that I started my own version of a "Project Life"
type album that I was planning to make using one spread per month.
Well, this project has been ignored somewhat due to my determination to participate in the
Papertrey Ink Anniversary festivities as much as I can.

However, today, Papertrey Ink must have known the guilt I was feeling
regarding this project and helped me out in two ways:
#1. They shared a whole bunch of new products on Nichole's blog today geared towards this
pocket scrapbooking trend AND issued a challenge to create some 3x4 journaling cards
(just the motivation I needed to get my first month done!)
#2. They came up with a great name for this new line,
which also fits really well with my project: Monthly Moments.

So, I pulled out the Basic Grey binder, page protectors, etc. that I won and
am using for my album and got to work.

Because my plan is to do just one spread per month,
I'm thinking that I'll be able to store several years in one binder.
So, I decided to start with a "title page" of sorts for the year.

There are four pockets on these pages: two 3x4", one 6x1.25" & one 6x4".

I used some Papertrey Ink card stock (aqua mist & white) and pinking border die.
The stamp is from Inspiration Ave, which I stamped in versa mark and heat embossed in white.

For this card, I used some Basic Grey Carte Postale patterned paper & MME enamel dots.
I die cut some aqua mist card stock with my PTI double-ended banner die & stamped
on it with a sentiment from PTI's Fabulous Frames.

For the centre band, I used another sheet of BG patterned paper and another stamp
from the same Inspiration Ave set.

For the bottom card, I again used some BG patterned paper (it's a nice pad!),
along with the heart die from Bubble Talk, on which I stamped "our" using stamps from
Wonderful Words Additions.
"Fabulous" is from an Ali Edward Technique Tuesday stamp set.
"Life" is die cut using aqua mist card stock & their Bookprint dies.

My next page contains my spread for January.
My plan is to use the divided pockets for one page and to use a 6.5x9.75" page protector for the second page, on which I include a 6.5x6.5" photo collage and some journaling.

And here are some close ups of the four Monthly Moments cards.

For this card, I started with a base of soft stone card stock  on which I typed my
journaling with my typewriter.
Then I stamped some snowflakes from PTI's Two Feet Deep in versa mark
and heat embossed in white.
I stamped the "snapshot details" stamp (Elle's Studio) onto stamper's select white card stock
and adhered it to my card.

For this one, I used a Two Feet Deep stamp and die for my sled, which
I adhered to my sweet blush embossed with PTI's woodgrain impression plate background.
The banner die cut is Wplus9 & the "together" sentiment is from Wonderful Words Additions.

Here's the monthly moment card where I include highlights from the month.
I typed this on my typewriter onto some Crate Paper patterned paper.
(I'm thinking I might be happier with this being typed on a computer instead, but we got a new printer
and I haven't seemed to be able to print on journaling cards as well as I used to with my old printer
so we'll see if I can figure something out or stick with the typewriter.)
I used PTI's pinking border die to trim the BG patterned paper.

And lastly...

Here I layered a Fancy Flakes die cut  (cut from SSS woodgrain card stock)
over some soft stone card stock and popped a MME enamel dot in the centre.

Well, I have to say that this took quite a bit longer than I'd thought it would,
which makes me glad that I am only doing one month at a time!

Thanks for looking!

i know you're a 12x12 girl but these are just wonderful - and i really think you'll like doing your album :-) kinda fun isn't it? those little canvases can be so liberating. I really love the pocket scrapbooking and for me its been a God-send. Makes me feel very productive - I have a lifetime - literally - of photos to scrapbook. I used to get hung up and now I get the pics in a book - and have fun embellishing when I can or want to. I'm going to enjoy seeing what you come up with sweetie!

Simply amazing, Leigh! I might have to add this kind of scrapbooking to my repetoire soon. And one of the coolest parts in your book is the textured snowflake with the enamel dot. Love that! Just wonderful. Bev

It is even more beautiful than I could have imagined!
Of course, it looks like you've kept a PL all your life!
Love the soft tones, the mix of papers, your use of stamps, the typewriter font...yep, I'm totally smitten!!

YooHoo, please, don't tell us we have to wait until March to see what follows?!

Not only is this beautiful (love the photos and the 'old-fashioned typewriter' print), but doing a layout per month: brilliant! Manageable and do-able - that's my kind of scrapbooking (uh oh...I think you may have sparked yet more ideas for me to explore...down the road). Wonderful, inspiring and oh-so-fun!

Fantastic little scrapbook. I think if I were to scrap, this is exactly how I would try to do it.

Looks like you've got this thing figured out early Leigh. Good for you. I thought about scaling down to the Basic Grey album, but decided to keep on with the 12x12. Up to date so far, but there are definitely going to be some weeks where I combine 2 weeks in one spread, or even 1.5 weeks in one like I did last year. I'm cool with mixing it up like that. The important thing is that the photos get off my SD crad and into albums. Looking forward to seeing where your album goes.
